Illinois keeps reloading good teams and finally got over the hump. They also end up with a stud freshman year after year I wonder how much Coach O has to do with that? He wanted to stay at Kentucky with Pope and was shown the door. That has been a very bad decision by Pope.👍 1Comment

Big 10 has won 3 straight nattys in football and have a chance for 3 of the final 4. That league is doing things right at the moment. Purdue has 4 senior starters and Arizona has 3 freshman. Both ideas work if the pieces fit.Comment

I wouldn't say that:
Matt Painter accomplishments at Purdue
Matt Painter has amassed over 500 wins (as of March 2026), 17 NCAA Tournament appearances, and 5 Big Ten regular-season titles .since becoming head coach in 2005 He led the Boilermakers to the 2024 NCAA Championship game, multiple Sweet 16s, and has earned Big Ten Coach of the Year honors five times.
Key accomplishments at Purdue include:- Winning Milestone: Surpassed 500 wins at Purdue, becoming just the fourth coach in Big Ten history to achieve 500+ career wins at one school.
- NCAA Tournament Consistency: Led Purdue to 17 NCAA Tournament appearances in his first 21 seasons, including nine Sweet 16 appearances, 6 in the last eight tournaments.
- Championship Success: Secured 5 Big Ten regular-season championships (2010, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2023, 2024) and 3 Big Ten Tournament titles.
- Historic 2024 Season: Led the team to the 2024 NCAA Final Four and National Championship game.
- Coach of the Year: Voted Big Ten Coach of the Year five times.
- Program Legacy: As a former Purdue player (1989-1993) and coach, he has built one of the most consistent programs in the country, often holding top-4 seeds in the NCAA Tournament.
Remember.... this is Purdue, not a blue blood like Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke, Kansas, etc.

True, but neither does Kelvin Sampson, yet he's a HOF coach that everyone raves about. Same with Mark Few.
I'm guessing Purdue realizes that once he is gone, their program falls back into the mediocre/mid tier of the Big Ten rather than a perennial top dog that is ranked highly, a top seed in the tourney and competing for championships.Comment

Yeah I was hoping Kelvin Sampson would finally get one this year too
