I think it depends, in part, on who the new A. D. is.

I give up trying to predict what this team does but the majority of the time they disappoint so I am going with that.Comment

Whoever takes the AD job more than likely will want the power to hire who they want as Coach on their watch I would assume.
My question is....is a repeat of year 1 enough for him to keep his job, and does a repeat of year 2 automatically cost him his job?
My thoughts are...it probably will be for the first scenario, and probably isn't for the second. I think the university probably has a longer leash for him than we realize. Although, truthfully...I think anything short of a pretty miraculous season.....one in which Kentucky is ranked and hangs around the top 10 all season, results in single digit losses and a deep tournament run.... should be grounds for seriously looking at replacing him.

Elephant in the room????
Since today's college players are paid and are treated like professionals more than college athletes, here is my question in regards to this team moving forward this year, are they ready to flip the switch????
What does that even mean? Well if anyone here happens to follow the NBA, you see it year in year out. Some teams just do enough to make the playoffs, then flip the switch. During this time, you see players not giving 100% effort at all times, players managing minutes, all the junk that goes along with it. I don't buy into all that but sometimes It does work.
Brings me back to this Kentucky team. Does it have potential, yes I still believe that.
Are we missing a few guys and that true freakazoid talent yes but we still have really good players.
This time of the year it's about matchups and games get a little tighter, little slower, more grinding it out.
Pope hasn't done himself any favors with this sub patterns and all that this year but hopefully these players finally step and give all they have to give. If nothing else, they are also playing for a pay raise next year and beyond, they still have a job to do and the world is watching....Comment

I still think he gets another year regardless of what happens but with a new AD, I am sure he will be on a tight leash moving forward.
What's messed up is that if you are a Pope fan, you hope he has a good year next year but if you are really not sold on Pope, some people probably going to root against him to fail at the expense of Kentucky basketball so that we can actually get someone else sooner than later for the long haul...
The lack of recruiting, the sub patterns, the sideline feel for the game really concerns me but I like Pope and really wish him the best to succeed.
This current coaching situation is different than the past. Past coaches really had no ties to Kentucky, Pope is a Alumni Champion, kind of hard to be mean towards someone like that..

I am going to say a prayer for Coach Pope. I know he's a good man, he's working hard, he's doing all he can do to the very best of his ability. He may be a coach on paper that checks each and every box except for perhaps the most important of all, can and does he truly connect with his players in a situation to where they love him as a friend coach and also fully respect his authority or, is he just a friend one of the guys coach??? If it's the latter part, we are screwed. Not to bring up Cal or even Pitino but most all players respected these guys and knew exactly who the boss was at the end of the day...Comment
