Has Donovan ever said anything about wanting to be the head coach of UK? I get he was an assistant here, but some fans seem to think he's just dying to take this job; all while turning it down several times.

To the best of my knowledge, he has never indicated any interest in the UK job. This may be more a case of wishful thinking on the part of some UK fans than anything else.

He is an assistant now with the Mavs but a HC for a championship team has KY ties and young. I think he would be a good option to lead KY and would take us where we need to be.

Vogel won the title in the bubble. Outside of that, his final 8 years in the NBA were 4 years of missing the playoffs, 3 years of first round exits and got fired 4 times. If he wasn't a student manager 30 years ago, would you consider a guy with that record? Absolutely not.

I'm not opposed to a guy with NBA ties, but if you're going to do that, you do not consider someone just because they were at UK way back in the day. If he's the best guy available, then you get him. There are dozens upon dozens of guys with a better resume than Pope...that was a point.

I wonder why we're still talking about this. We have a coach for next season and if we're in the market for one after then who knows what the situation will be with anyone who is being mentioned now.

I want Pope to succeed and have a long tenure at KY but the next couple of days could decide his fate a year from now. It’s also fun to see some of the names fans would like to see run our great program.

Agree with you. I don't mind respectful "what if's" as a topic of conversation. This place would be boring otherwrise.

I think it's kind of fun to show who "you / I / we"...US....all of us.....name as guys we'd like to see. If nothing else, it shows personal tastes and opinions, but also it's kind of cool to see how our choices pan out in the future. When Pope was hired Tommy Lloyd and T.J. Otzelberger were two guys I wanted Barnhardt to at least bring in for an interview. Fast forward to this past season, and we see how well Arizona and Iowa State did and how well their recruiting is going. So there is a little bragging rights involved as well as playing prognosticator with the future.

I am keeping an eye on jail Lucas Michigan or Arizona coach though I don't think they would come here . Jail Lucas I guess
