I wonder why we're still talking about this. We have a coach for next season and if we're in the market for one after then who knows what the situation will be with anyone who is being mentioned now.👍 1Leave a comment:

I'm not opposed to a guy with NBA ties, but if you're going to do that, you do not consider someone just because they were at UK way back in the day. If he's the best guy available, then you get him. There are dozens upon dozens of guys with a better resume than Pope...that was a point.
He is an NBA guy with KY ties and the last time I checked the NCAA is becoming more and more like the league. I’m not saying I would offer him the job however I think a Coach with NBA experience would be a good idea. Let’s see how Carolina’s Coach works out this season. Vogel’s resume is much stronger then Popes who is leading us to mediocrity at the moment.Leave a comment:

Vogel won the title in the bubble. Outside of that, his final 8 years in the NBA were 4 years of missing the playoffs, 3 years of first round exits and got fired 4 times. If he wasn't a student manager 30 years ago, would you consider a guy with that record? Absolutely not.
UK fans have got to stop being interested in someone because they have ties to UK. Do we not see what that got us with Pope?Last edited by Tomcats1990; 1 week ago.Leave a comment:

To the best of my knowledge, he has never indicated any interest in the UK job. This may be more a case of wishful thinking on the part of some UK fans than anything else.👍 2Leave a comment:

Has Donovan ever said anything about wanting to be the head coach of UK? I get he was an assistant here, but some fans seem to think he's just dying to take this job; all while turning it down several times.Leave a comment:

He is an assistant now with the Mavs but a HC for a championship team has KY ties and young. I think he would be a good option to lead KY and would take us where we need to be.Leave a comment:

Vogel and Donavan both should be high on KY’s short list after next season if things do not work out with Pope.Leave a comment:

They KY should have waited before hiring Pope, they knew Pope would always say yes.
Kentucky couldn't wait on Donovan two years ago, so we can't single UNC out as being impatient. And as far as Donovan goes, apparently he's going to either have to be fired, or quit mid season... because he doesn't seem to have it in him to leave the NBA for a head coaching gig in college like UK or UNC. Could that reason be because he doesn't want to return to college?Leave a comment:

I am a big believer in actions speak louder than words. Donovan can tell people he likes this or that college job, but his actions aren't exactly lining up with that at all. If two of the biggest brands in college bball aren't enough to get you moving from the NBA, then I don't think anything willLeave a comment:
