Former Denver Nuggets coach. Won the title with them in 23, but was fired during 25 season.

No experience as a college head coach.

Woah, didn't see that coming. I live in Denver, but not a big NBA guy. Nug fans seemed to like him while here, but most coaches will be liked when they have a prime Jokic and Murray.

Not sure how he will translate to college. Assume they will have to load him up with assistants who can recruit. Honestly, not a hire that really worries me with unc taking off. The last couple blue blood coaching searches have been eye opening for me.

Unfortunately I think you're probably right....BUT....if it can happen, I would definitely like to see it happen.

Between our coaching search a couple years to Unc's current one, certainly doesn't seem like the top coaches are beating down the doors to be at a blueblood. Every decent school has the money and resources to keep coaches happy it seems.

10, 15, 20 years ago.. did you think you'd ever see a coach choose to stay at Baylor over UK, Arizona over UNC?

I don't think it's going to happen, but if it did and If they bring him on in a capacity outside of an assistant coach, I'm all for it. As for an assistant coach, Mo Williams fills the role working with PG's and bringing on a guy with a coaching resume that isn't UK worthy got us in the mess we are in now.

Lloyd is a west coast guy I believe....going to UNC was not the best move for him

I’d stay at Zona, too. They’re top dog in the west, have a supportive fanbase, don’t seem to be hurting for money, and I think being in the B12 bolstered their brand.

It seemed like unc fans had convinced themselves he was their guy.

Great move by him. The coaching landscape has drastically changed. No longer are historically blue blood jobs the gold standard. Getting financial support for a roster is now the gold standard and if you can do it at a school with less pressure, go for it.

Arizona game him a fully guaranteed contract....which is virtually unheard of in college coaching.

I'm sorry you're only "hoping Pope can do just enough". I'm hoping and think he can do a lot better than that.
I have zero faith in Pope. You can dream all you like but he has not performed. Hope is not a plan.
