The only thing we have for sure (at least by the WWW is Hawthorne) as he has evidently publicly said he is coming back, if you can believe posts.

This is my first post here in this forum, and I just want to say that I agree with this statement 100%.

Usually I am all in favor of player retention.... especially after 15 years of John Calipari's one-and-done crusade.....but I'm definitely not a fan of mediocrity and disappointment. Actually, I would be pretty disappointed and upset if the same group of guys were brought back for next year. Fool me once, shame on you....fool me twice, shame on me. No need to be a glutton for punishment.

There definitely needs to be an upgrade in talent going into next year.

Pope has stated he would like to retain everyone except the two seniors obviously. That would leave room for two recruits. WOW! WHAT A STEP UP THA WOULD BE

I THINK THE ISSUE WITH THAT IS that pope doesn’t want to go out and recruit.

let's hope that is mostly coachspeak.

However, if Lowe and Williams are healthy and stay healthy next year, then that is an upgrade as well. And while I don't believe he comes back, JQ could at least in theory return as well. And if he's healthy, then that's another upgrade over this year.

JQ might be an upgrade defensively over Moreno but from what little we've seen of JQ he's got zero offensive skill. Give me Malachi for the next couple years.

I've had concerns about Lowe running the point for UK, even more so after this injury. I'd be okay if he came back with no guarantees, and UK went hard after an elite level PG in the portal.

I'm not sure if he oesn't want to or if he just isn't very good at it....but truthfully I think he's just saying what he thinks SOUNDS good.

Pope says things that I think IN HIS MIND are the right thing to say, but that others tend to see right through. I thought the "fatigue" comment was actually kind of funny, especially since his own players (like Jelavic) are debunking that one.

Same here. I wasn't all that crazy about the Lowe addition when I felt like there were better options available, but was perfectly willing to give him a shot (no pun intended)...but when he turned out to be as injury prone as he was I was ready to turn the page. I would hate to see better point guards passed over because of a loyalty to a guy that was a bit of a question mark heading into the season that turned out to be a n injury prone disappointing shortly into it.
