6 Games Left. Do the Cats Finish Top 4?

6 SEC games left: Georgia, @Auburn, @ South Car, Vandy, @Texas AM, and Florida.

The SEC is currently in a log jam competing for the double bye. Florida (10-2), Ark (9-3), Vandy (8-4), UK (8-4), Tenn (8-4), Bama (8-4), Mizzou (7-5), Texas AM (7-5), Texas (7-5)

It is doable, but will require a consistent 6 games against good competition. I'd think we'd need to go at least 4-2 in this final stretch to stay in the race, and still would need some luck from other teams losing. I think when the dust settles, we are on the outside looking in and playing Thursday. But I am still hoping for the double bye.

If we go 4-2 that means we would end up with 6 losses. I don't see any way UF, or even Arky, loses 6 games.

Here is what I think SOS is for the teams you listed hardest to easiest:

        1. Arkansas - all 6 remaining games are against teams with 7-5 or better SEC record with games @ Bama and @ Florida
        2. Vandy - 4 of 6 remaining games against teams 7-5 or better. Still play UT twice, @ Mizzou and @ UK
        3. Mizzou - 4 of 6 remaining games against teams 7-5 or better. Still play Arkansas twice.
        4. UT - 4 of 6 remaining games are against teams 7-5 or better. Play Vandy twice still.
        5. Texas - 3 of 6 remaining games are against teams 7-5 or better. Tough 3 game stretch vs UF, @ TAMU and @ Arkansas.
        6. Kentucky - 3 of 6 games remaining against teams 7-5 or better. Close out with a tough 3 game stretch of Vandy, @ TAMU and UF.
        7. Texas A&M - 3 of 6 games remaining against teams 7-5 or better. Still play 3 of the 4 worst teams in conference.
        8. Florida - 3 of 6 games remaining against teams 7-5 or better. Play 3 of the worst teams in conference (USC, MSU, Ole Miss)
        9. Alabama - 2 of 6 remaining games against teams 7-5 or better. 4 of their last 5 games are @ LSU, MSU, @ UGA and Auburn.

Here is what I predict will happen:

        1. Florida 15-3
        2. Alabama 13-5
        3. Arkansas 12-6
        4. Kentucky 12-6
        5. Tennessee - 12-6
        6. TAMU - 11-7
        7. Texas - 11-7
        8. Mizzou - 10-8
        9. Vandy 10-8

Kentucky gets the tie-breaker and get the double bye.

I voted no because of the inconsistency of the team.At this point I just don't have enough confidence in them to believe that they can get together for 30 minutes much less 40 minutes a game.I hope that they prove me wrong,GO CATS!!!

Didn't vote because of jinx factor.. until This team can start getting serious about defense, every game will be a toss up.
at this stage of the season, pope hasn't got that issue corrected and probably won't
I don't think the Cats win more than 3 of the final 6 games. But they could win all 6, can't figure this bunch out

We'd be lucky to only lose 2 of the next 6 games, quite frankly, considering our string of pathetic first-half performances. And even if we 'only' lose 2 games, that still doesn't guarantee top 4. I'm thinking we don't get the double bye (and I hope I'm wrong).

I put yes. Reason, I have none. Trying not to be negative. This team is capable of winning all 6 and are capable of losing any of the 6 games left. They have been more consistent but still have bad habits. We will know by Tuesday night how they start out in this last 3rd of the SEC Games. Hoping for he best and getting better each game. Will not hold my breath for any miraculous changes.

We have to take care of business tomorrow night before we can start thinking about where we will land. I don't know what to think about the Vandy game at home. they whipped our tails hard. I like to think we can get them on our home court, but matchups just seemed to be awful in that game for some reason. Florida beat us, but didn't destroy us. we made some runs. It will take a complete game like we had against Arkansas to beat them, but I think we can get them at home on senior night. Texas A&M is coming back down to earth. they've lost three straight, so the luster is wearing off of them. We should be able to handle South Carolina, and jr. Pearl isn't proving to be quite the threat Daddy Pearl was at Auburn. I like our chances to go 4-2, or even 5-1. just don't like the Vandy matchup.

Thanks. When you look at what you're asking without context, I immediately go to no. When you look at the schedules for all of those teams, it looks much more possible than I would have anticipated.
