    Praise for Pope

The team has taken strong body blows w Jaland, Jayden and Kam out. With Kam working his way into starting line up the team is playing without what would've been 3 starters AND WINNING. So, well done Mark, it could have gone really sour but you have kept it on the rails.

We're having a decent season this year all things (mostly injuries) considered. The team is playing at a higher level now than a month or 2 ago for sure.

I agree this year is what it is. At this point I hope year 3 can be a true title contender.

It's sad that it's January and we already feel beaten down. Here's hoping this team can make a great run, but it'll be with duct tape and bubble gum, if it happens at all.

This next week will really show if the team is actually improving substantially or have just been able to beat the teams they should, other than Missouri.

I have not been watching, but reading up on KSR, ASea of Blue and here: It seems that UK is playing with a different style a bit, more defensive minded. Not sure the offense has changed any at all. But he has found ways to get the team in games where early on they got down and was out of the game completely. It seems the team (AD and OO for sure) has taken to it. MM is also doing great stuff for a freshman big.

This week could be a huge statement or a reality check. Going 2-0 this week would a huge boost for this team and enter UK into a contender status imo.

Why are you not watching the games? I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but why not watch the games instead of reading on fan sites?

                  Common sense...

                  1. Addition by subtraction meaning injuries finally forced POPE to actually shorten the rotation with a core group instead of a 1000 different lineup combinations per game.

                  2. Team finally got the message. It's Oweh's team, always has been.

                  3. A. Jelavic ??? You mean you finally decided that you would start a 22 year old pro with grown man experience at 6'10 7'5 wingspan who can shoot, pass, dribble, rebound, and play within the team concept??????

                  4. Chandler started coming off the bench as a spark plug needed scorer. He starts, he tries to do way to much and it messes up the whole flow of the offense and defense in my opinion but with injuries, spot is probably his now.

                  5. Dioubate. Like him, think he plays hard gives us what we need but starting material? There is a reason Alabama let him walk and did not pay him.

                  6. Aberdeen. Finally getting comfortable and learning how to play PG..

I like Pope, hope he learns from it all. Unfortunately with NIL, can't play 96 ball 12 man rotations and keep everyone happy.

With all that being said, I like Mark Pope, I hope he can ride the ship and survive it. Dude had a mental nervous breakdown earlier in the year due to the pressure and everything that comes along with it, respect for fighting through it. Still could get ugly from here to the end but he's on the right track and the team is playing for each other, chemistry is much better.

If JQ ever plays again, who knows? Team could actually start peaking at the right time unlike December of last year in my opinion...

I have a condition mutated gene, that has given me the blessing of Episodic Ataxia. Fun time with this stuff, been dealing since 2006. Physical and emotional exhaustion (which UK games for some reason are for me) makes episodes happen. Gene mutated from too many concussions. Had many in 13 years of football back in the 70s /80s but had a few outside of football. Anyway, an episode attacks from the cerebrum miss fires, think of stroke symptoms followed by normalcy and then stroke symptoms. Once I get my body to calm down then the attacks hit muscle groups. Make my hands draw up, or feet draw up, hits my diaphragm and causes shallow breathing, hits the neck pulling the muscles towards my mouth and cheeks (very painful that one). Then it can lead to emotional outburst for a short period (which I can control most times). I try to pick my battles with what I watch and UK sports. If I read here and do not follow the game, typically might read at about halftime and end of game, or get a text from my older brother, i know how it goes. The Tennessee game (the last 1:19) of the game has been the only live action I have seen since early december. They way the team has played, I had to step away. I had to the last few years of Cal as well. I can handle a one off or two off type of bad game and can continue to watch. I did watch more games last year with Pope but man this year has been hard. I am always happy for a UK win.

Can't paise Pope for much this season. Next year will make or break him.
