    Popes challenge

There have been a lot of comparisons. Pope vs Calipari, Pope vs BG etc. One thing to keep in mind for BG and Cal the SEC was a one trick pony and it was UK. Pope took over with the SEC as one of the stronger if not the strongest conference. I know a lot of people don't care about circumstances but I think it's worth considering in the big picture.

Just want to see the cats back at the top. It remains to be seen if pope can bring it all back. I think recruiting the right players to fit his system is the key.
    .
    I hope!

Pope has never won a league title and the SEC is his 4th conference he has coached in. He is just an average coach.

Completely and obviously true. People will post Gillispie records and place them side-by-side with Pope’s record and try to say it’s compelling — it isn’t. Gillispie barely had to play any ranked teams in-conference his entire tenure, whereas Pope played in the most difficult conference we have ever seen last season. None of that is to say that Pope will certainly succeed, but it absolutely is important when handling this topic.

None of that excuses just not giving effort.
