Team Physician from the Purchase

I’m having a senior moment and I need somebody to Help me out.
For a number of years during the latter time of coach Rupp And then Joe B., There was a team physician who was from far West Kentucky in the Purchase that commuted back-and-forth to the basketball games. I believe he and his wife even served as house, mother and fathers at wildcat Lodge.

Help me out what was his name?
