IT WAS A Cold December night in Chicago in 1966 when two Wildcats clashed in one of the greatest offensive games ever involving Kentucky.
the Kentucky WILDCATS played the Northwestern WIldcats in a wild shoot-out and both teams wore the nets out. Both reams shot over 50 % from the field with the Kentu cky Cats finally winning 118 to 116. There was NO

3 point shot and Kentuckys two AA, PAT RILEY and LOUIS DAMPIER lit it up with over 30 plus points each and and BOB TALLENT and THAD JARACZ over 20 points each.

in the post game interview Cawood asked Rupp what was the key to winning this game and Adolph replied "our defense".

In another note, Bob Tallent transferred to GWU the following year and became one of the nation's leading at 30 points per GAME

    FINAL SCORE:
    KENTUCKY-118
    NORTHWESTERN-116

Yeah, I remember listening to Cawood call that game while sitting in my dining room. I kept thinking UK would finally pull away (THEY WERE HIGHLY RANKED AND nwestern wasn't ranked) but Nwstern were hitting almost every thing they put up.
I can't imagine what the score would have been if there had been a 3 point shot especially since Riley, Dampier and Tallent were outside shooters.
