Pope now has the best opportunity of his coaching career. He can turn this around and produce one of the greatest coaching jobs in recent memory .
OR we can go out and offer Bruce Pearl the job and give him the keys. Dude can coach, he can recruit, his energy is Red Bull x 1000 24/7 365 a year. Players know his name..
If Pearl wants to run for office, win a few seasons maybe cut down the nets, run for Governor Congress or Senate in Kentucky who cares, easy Win....

Pope had a career 68% winning percentage when he got here. Not sure why we think he's going to do much better here. Whatever luster he had has quickly worn off with me. I'd love to see him succeed but the past month or so has me really wondering if Mitch did, in fact, panic. Or if he was just purely lazy with the hire. Pope could have been 150th on the list and he'd have come no matter when offered.

IMO, when Mitch moves on (which is rumored to be at the end of this academic year), we have to get someone from outside. Marc Hill is the easy hire, but his entire admin career has been under Mitch. Unless that happens, hiring a guy like Bruce Pearl would never be in the cards unfortunately. Pearl was my top choice to replace Cal.
First, regarding Pearl He'll be 66 just before March Madness tips off play. He says he's done coaching and I have no reason to believe otherwise. As much as I like him, I would rather have had Cal leave for UCLA in 2019 when bozo Mitch gave him that "lifetime contract" and hired Pearl then. He was 59. We could have gotten the last 6 years out of him rather than Auburn.
Second.... regarding Quaintence. I'm not sure how NIL works but if he doesn't suit up, then he should have to forfeit any and all money promised to him. He received free medical treatment, rehab and room and board...that's good enough for someone who doesn't play. (Personally, I think he will play...I'm just saying if he doesn't...)

All I know is BYU is ranked #10 with top recruit in the country. Also know Pope never won a tournament game until last year.
I think he's a great person who genuinely loves Kentucky but we may need more than that..
I couldn't stand Calipari at Memphis but I respected him because he was winning and Uk was desperate. Once he showed up with Wall Cousins Bledsoe, all was good.
