I've noticed that UK fans have become somewhat complacent with mediocrity. I wasn't sure if that was whatever generation it was that grew up as the participation trophy era....or if it was Cal and his brainwashing propaganda...or both. But I remember when Cal was hired, in his introductory press conference....he pretty much told the fan base to let him coach the team, and for the fan base to "sit back and be entertained" (which is almost a direct quote). I remember thinking, "Is he telling all the fans to shut up, don't question anything he does, just appreciate what he does"? Because it sure seemed like he was setting himself up to be above criticism and telling the fans to lower expectations at the same time.
I am old school, win or go home lol lol lol...

    It's all good,

The zaga game made me hit the panic button, but the prior losses were already causing concern.

The ul game gave me concern right off the bat. Elite teams do not have that type of effort and start against a bitter rival. A loss wasn't unexpected, but being down 20 and 18 at times was pretty unexpected. I was kind of surprised at the amount of people I saw trying to say the comeback to single digits showed a lot of grit. Frankly, ul let off and UK hit circus shots.

Mich St was a disaster, they did whatever they wanted to us. The same problems from ul popped up again with zero adjustments.

unc game was the perfect one to get a win and get back on track. They couldn't hit anything, and the coaching was questionable during that final stretch. That was a game where anyone needed to step up and take over.

Zags game showed that the team did not improve from the previous losses and looked like they didn't care. The fans, media, and former players had every right to question this team's heart.

The lack of improvement and care is enough for me to throw my hands up. I have always been one to base my schedule around UK games, but this team isn't worth that energy or effort. I will still try to watch as much as I can and hope for some turnaround, but I don't have much hope with this squad. Really seems we are watching a team who will miss the tournament.

No single loss sent me over the edge but honestly the Georgetown game—which didn’t even count!—was pretty telling. Maybe it was easy to discount right after beating Purdue. But it has proven to be what we really have. It was not an aberration. Georgetown hasn’t been good for 40 years and they punked us like a grade school team. Others have followed suit.

I was a lot more worried after Georgetown than most. They defended us in a completely different way than Purdue did, and I saw that tough athletic guys getting in our grills bothered us A LOT. I hoped that Lowe would help... but I saw through those two games that shooting might be a big problem. And we were supposed to have gotten more athletic and tougher. The Michigan State game only solidified that, PLUS showed a terrible lack of fight. Georgetown was the warning sign, Michigan State was the siren.

If we are being totally honest, last year's loss to Arkansas was the start of the bs,,

You don't lose to Cal at home vs Arkansas, you just don't.....

I've always felt Cal won't win anything of worth at Ark (SEC regular/tournament, FF, NCAA Title), but he will end up with a winning record vs. UK. He gets up for certain teams/coaches, but doesn't have it in him anymore to do that for a full season. He will always be ready for UK, though.

The Indiana loss did it for me.

The Georgetown game concerned me the most.

He does get up for a big marquee matchup, that's for sure.

Not as good as he once was, but as good as once than he ever was for sure...

I noticed a lot of Cats fans acting this way after the Louisville loss...but I thought that was crazy because the Cards are a very good team, it was at their place with a rabid fan base, and it was the third game of the season.

Michigan State was eye opening, and a bit embarrassing. That one got my attention, but I thought "it's early, we've got guys out and hurt, we'll bounce back".

UNC seemed more like bad luck that a sign that we're a bad team. Yes, that 10 minute stretch sucked and felt like we were jinxed more so that just plain crappy. A close game that we still should have won.

But even after all that, I hadn't given up on this team..... until last night. I knew the game was over when it was something like 14-2. By 19-2 I had no doubt. I was just hoping they would show some heart and make a comeback to make it close. That never happened.

So which loss was it for you that got your shrugging your shoulders and feeling like throwing in the towel on this season?
I’ve never walked out of a UK game in my life. I’ve never boo’ed a UK team in my life. I did not boo Friday night. But we did leave at halftime.

UNC always. I loathe them like no other and the second half of that game was like a root canal. How does a high major basketball team go 10+ minutes without scoring a basket!

The more I think about it, I think I agree. I hate UNC on the same level as Duke. I also think they are an inferior team, and the game was at Rupp.

I can deal with losing to Louisville at their place (really good team, their place, rabid fan base, early in the season, they were due). I can deal with losing to Michigan State and Gonzaga (neutral court = more or less a road game, superior coaches, better teams). But Carolina???

If we beat St. John's, that means we would have been .500 against top OOC competition to start the season (3-3) HAD WE beaten UNC. Now, the best we can hope for is 2-4 which is a losing record no matter how it's spun.

I kinda felt like the loss to Georgia really started it. At least for me (because it was the first time I began to question things).

I was riding pretty high until the thumping by Ohio State... and that includes the Clemson loss (believe it or not, I predicted the Clemson loss when I saw the schedule). The Ohio State loss sucked, but didn't deflate me like the Georgia loss. That Georgia loss was to a really inferior team.

But I hear ya.... and ultimately I think you are right. That one was the one that knocked the wind out of my sails more than any other because of who was coaching the opponent.
