    Post game press conference

I quit watching Cals post game press conferences about 2 years before he left. I have watched Popes since he got here. I have kept an open mind since he was hired. I didn't think he was the best choice we could have made but I didn't think he was the worst either. The press conferences after the last 3 losses have disturbed me . I am already growing weary of his " I don't know what to tell you" statement in each of them ,when asked to explain his teams struggles. He also says " We've got to figure it out" alot in them. My question coach is how " We" figure it out when you yourself admitted you don't understand why its happening. Unlike some I didn't think this was a FF team before the season started. I did think this would be a pretty good competative team, which it currently is not. His comments in this press conferences don't inspire much confidence that he can fix our problems. I am beginning to have some doubts. I wonder what his team thinks when he makes some of these comments. Not exactly confidence inspiring

    I wanted Todd Golden.

Did not understand the Pope hire.

Still don't get the Pope hire.

But he's what we've got for now.

I still think Pope created a team of second sons. None of them know how to be the Alpha.

    Bunch of Bravo Itches.

I've not watched any of his postgame shows and really don't plan to. However by your all comments, it just seems that he's over his head. I had high hopes for pope, but I have zero faith of him turning things around this year.

"We're just in a bad space right now" .....really?!?!?!

How about moving away from that bad space...make some changes internally. I'd rather see Horn and Tow out there...they won't help but at least they'll leave their heart on the floor at the end of the game.

I'd almost bet my bottom dollar that Golden would have been the latest version of Billy Donovan (Florida coach wins national title, Kentucky offers, he turns them down).

The Pope hire was Mitch's ego not being able to handle rejection. Plain and simple. He got turned down by Drew and Hurley, and I believe he automatically went into "I'm going to get a sure fire YES" with his next offer. Not gonna lie, that first night I was disappointed....went to bed disappointed.....woke up Friday morning with a little more of a "well, it's done...may as well give him a chance" attitude.

And I've been OK with the hire until a couple of weeks ago, and then I started to question it. There were others I wanted (or at the very least had Barnhardt interview and consider)....but Mitch's fragile ego didn't want to possibly get turned down again.

Donovan was first choice but a dream.

Frank Vogel is a coach who I would have rolled the dice..

Golden hadn't won that title yet.

                You're absolutely right. My bad.

Although, prior to winning the natty last year, nothing about Golden's record suggested that he was an elite coach. His record was actually a little worse than Pope's.

If UK was to make a coaching change which i doubt happens, Bruce Pearl is probably the guy. The energy, the recruiting, players play for him. He's in the same boat as Cal prior to Kentucky but all can be forgiven..

Way too early to make a coaching change. Changing personell/players isn't.
Pope needs to take a look at his recruiting effort. Getting better talent, not a full roster of average players. He has to go after players that can shoot/score.
the team he has now would be successful in a mid major league. I think they are overwhelmed against top competition, i hope I am wrong.

Way I see it,we are 0-0 moving forward. Great opportunity for Pope to coach his best season ever..

This off-season, add some muscle on the bench. Wall maybe Rondo. Need a great recruiting assistant and someone who will hold these kids accountable.

Understood. That's how I felt about Tommy Lloyd before Pope was hired. I wanted Mitch to AT LEAST bring him in for an interview. He didn't. He hired Pope....who is struggling.... while Lloyd will be the head coach of the most likely #1 ranked team in the country when the polls come out tomorrow (Arizona).
