I AGREE.. he was terrible at Georgia...it baffled me when Pope hired him
I wouldn't say he was terrible at Georgia....6 of his 9 years he had a winning record, four of those years he won 20+ games, and he finished 30 games over .500 (163-133).
Now California.... that's a WHOLE different discussion.
I'm sure Pope hired him as a favor and a "thank you", because Fox gave him his first coaching opportunity when he was at Georgia. I thought it would be for a season or two only, so who knows...maybe this is the last year of that.
Truthfully, I didn't think Pope brought Fox on board to be a coach....there was talk about adding a General Manager type to negotiate and handle NIL. That's what I thought Fox was going to do.
Crazy, I posted this about Fox then read something from Bruce Pearl calling out the assistant coaches.
As I pointed to last week, Pope needs a OG to handle players, good cop bad cop..
