    Mitch Barnhart

I have a bad feeling that the mismanagement of Mitch Barnhart has just saddled Kentucky Basketball with baggage that is going to drag it down.

Kentucky needs to jettison Barnhart before he does more damange.

He may have been good for the Olympic sports and Baseball.

However, over the past 5 to 10 years he has made bungling mistake after bungling mistake that are going to cost Kentucky Basketball and Football.

    Disastrous contract management

Being years behind in social media and other means of communication, fund raising, etc

    NIl stupidity, bungling and mismanagement

I've never been impressed with JMI and Barnhart handed them the keys to the Kingdom.

I think Kentucky Athletics is going to fall behind as Kentucky football continues it's collapse and they are going to be a drag on Kentucky Basketball.

As much as Cal ticked us off over the years, he did us a real solid and let us off the hook from his contract. I do think Cal had love for Kentucky and knew exactly what he was doing when he did it, he did us a solid that will always carry weight with me in my personal opinion of Cal's last days.

Will Stoops do the same thing and actually do the right thing or will he just hang out and collect his check for mid major at best success???

As for Mitch, never been a fan from day one..

Cal did not do us a solid.

My personal opinion was that he was attempting to run it back again and get a better contract because he was delusional.

Cal thought that he was on solid ground when he spoke with Arkansas and thought he was going to use that to say; "See! I'm still important. Other schools want me! Pay me more."

He's already on record saying that he has "no intention of leaving. ZERO."

AS of now, I think he realizes that he is overpaid and lucky that he has 5 or 6 years left on his contract and close to a $38 million dollar buyout. And since no other school is going to be stupid enough to look at what he's done lately, look at what he is currently making, and say "Yeah, that's the guy we want"... he's just happy to have job security while being overpaid. His latest comments show that he has (as he said) "no intention of leaving. ZERO", and he'll gladly accept being fired/bought out.

I think Mitch hates hiring coaches, so he tries to lock them up by overpaying them in long term deals so that no other school will want to pay the buyout cost, and that ultimately ends up hurting UK.

I think you're right, but I will add that I also think there was a little bit of "if they're thinking of firing me, I want to have a backup plan so that I can publicly make it seem like it was MY choice to walk away rather than be fired".

So while I think you're probably right that his ego and self-importance caused him to think he could use it as leverage, there was also a part of him that probably wanted a backup plan to save face in the event that he was fired...which we all know, Mitch we wouldn't have the balls to do.

I think he was so deluded that he didn't think he needed a back up plan.

Looks like they are pulling the plug on Stoops.

Looks like I was wrong and someone stepped up and said that Stoops has to go.

They must have come up with money from somewhere.

Maybe but still, UK off the hook of a lifetime contract.

Regardless how it came about, Cal made it easy for everyone..

Cal went downhill after Robic left in my opinion.

Cal pisses me off for the fact he had it all at Kentucky, could have been legendary if only he could have figured out how to coach what he had and adapt.

Not going to lie, pisses me off right now watching Acuff, Thomas even Knox and Richmond, talented players..

Seems we have glorified role players who got their bag and could care less.

I still want to believe our team can be dominant but it has to start this week in my opinion, we all need it..

Hopefully Pope can get some Wins and prove himself sooner than later.

The one thing that concerns me is missing out on big time recruits at this point.

It's crazy to think on of the best players in college plays for BYU. One may argue that BYU actually became better with the departure of POPE, that's crazy to even look at it like that.

Still, it's not all doom and gloom. I hate to put a lot of stock in one player but it's is very possible JQ is the missing ingredient to this team. If he's around the rim changing shots and controlling the middle, has to make it easier for the guards to just stay outside and guard.

Not sure of the status of Lowe but I still hope he can come back this year and play up to a higher level. A One two punch of Oweh and Lowe with Chandler/Aberdeen 3rd should make it easier for everyone else to just play the role.

I wouldn't care as much about missing out on one and done 17/18 year olds.....IF HE WAS GETTING THE BEST IN THE TRANSFER PORTAL! BUT HE'S NOT!

Yaxel Lendeborg should be a Kentucky Wildcat....not a Michigan Wolverine. I mean, we've got guys like Lamar Wilkerson playing for freaking Indiana! I'm glad we got Lowe, but I was worried about point guard when he was missing on guys like Silas Demary!

I think Lowe will be the key to this season...more so than Quaintence. I've been pleasantly surprised with Moreno, and if Garrison could find whatever gear he needs to step up his game, the talent and ability is there. I do think Jayden is valuable, don't get me wrong... especially on the defensive end...but it's going to feel a lot like last year with Butler and Krissa out. What looked like a strength going into last year turned out to be bitterly frustrating and disappointing when Colin Chandler and Travis Perry were running the point
