    Notes for Coach Pope

Do not say 'my message isn't resonating'. That translates to no one is listening.

You are not the friend of these guys until they graduate.

Quit tinkering with the people in the floor continually
AND quit putting in players you know won't score

    There's a bench for a reason

You still make more than any individual player so act like you're the boss.

Don't say these bizarre things and leave folks hanging.
what did you say to your players? 'A lot of things.'

At least give the impression you have an idea what to do. Most of us could make a fifth of what you do and act absolutely upset and lost.

Act like you know how to fix it.

Best regards: the future former Mark Pope fan base.

I've said it in other threads, but the staff is going have to make some difficult decisions. Throw out the analytics and expectations from the summer, because it isn't working for this group. This is not the type of team to spread the floor and jack 3s. There are only like 2-3 guys I'd give the greenlight to; the others can put their head down and get to the hoop. The depth was overstated this summer, need a core group of 7-8 guys who can play 30+ mins. Throw out the original plans and start from scratch, playing time needs to be earned.

How about the following lineup (barring insane foul trouble) is grounds for termination:

      BG, Johnson, Noah, Jelavic, Williams

That was seriously a lineup he had on the court last night. I sent that to my dad at 6:55 pm. So, at that point, UK was alright and in decent shape. They may have even been leading. That bunch hit the floor and the wheels came off.

I really think Pope convinced himself he had the depth of a 1996 or 2015 type of team.

I am really at a loss for words and have no explanation ha.

This season has been a complete 180 from what we saw last year, on and off the court.

Sorry for the double post, but I just read this article and was kind of shocked at the amount of line ups we've ran in 5 games. Trying to feed too many mouths? A few notable quotes:

Pope used 19 different five-man lineups vs. the Spartans and has used 70 different five-man lineups (including the few walk-on minutes) through five regular-season games. Against Michigan State, only three of those 19 lineups played together for at least five minutes throughout the game.

Kentucky was even leading 17-14 with 13:36 left in the first half. But then came more changes. A little over two minutes later, Pope put in four bench pieces to play next to Brandon Garrison, and Michigan State suddenly hit a groove. EKYCat

In the losses to Michigan State and Louisville, Kentucky used 36 different five-man lineups. The only one that played more than six minutes together was the starting five of Otega Oweh, Denzel Aberdeen, Collin Chandler, Mo Dioubate, and Garrison. That group posted a combined plus/minus of -13 in 18 minutes against the Spartans and Cardinals

My 2 cents to Pope would be:
STOP shooting so mant 3s you don't have the shooters to run that type of offense.

Note to Pope: There's a REASON some players are left open for 3's. It's called a game-plan.
