Besides the 15 team that almost went undefeated, this team roster and coach had people feeling as good as they have felt in almost a decade.

This season will tell all. Is Pope really ready for the big time and do you still need that one maybe two all world collegiate talent to get over the hump? I like Pope but at some point he needs to land a real 5 star to mix into all this, maybe JQ comes back and settles that this year.

Without Lowe, my expectations are tempered for this team considerably. I think Lowe could make more of a difference than Quaintence. I think Quaintence is a bit overrated. He's a nice player...but offensively he has a LONG way to go! I didn't see him as that much of an improvement over Anari Williams. Defensively, he's solid....but he played A LOT of minutes per game last year to reach those "rebounds per" and "blocks per" averages.

I felt like this was a team that COULD....if everything fell just right...make a push for #9, but realistically, I thought this was more likely an Elite 8 type of team. The depth is good, the defense, athleticism and toughness is improved...but the shooting has taken a hit, and if Lowe is out for an extended period of time a considerable hit!

I also look at Otega Oweh as more of a "Robin" (think Scottie Pippin) than a Batman (i.e. Michael Jordan). I don't really see a Batman on this roster. I think that's kind of how Pope likes it....a "team" rather than 1 or 2 guys who constantly lead the team in scoring, etc., and while I like the approach, I do think that will ultimately hurt this team this year.
