    Real quick opinion and observation

This team is not a great shooting team yet.
without a point guard on the floor this isn't anywhere close to a top 30 team.

Aberdeen is the real deal. Chandler is much more comfortable in the 2 slot. Oweh is working his way back into form.
Garrison is a disappointment right now. Out freshman are solid.
I am afraid if Noah is able to get over whatever happened to his ankle/leg quickly even he is a step to step and a half slow.

I'm not sure this is a top 10 team right now. It has a long way to grow as a team. But we have some pretty nice ingredients. I think when the situation at point settles out this will be a tough squad.

Is any team a Top 30 team without a point guard on the floor?

      Here are mine:
I wonder how we keep Aberdeen off the floor when Lowe comes back. Aberdeen really can't just be the backup PG, can he?

Also, anyone else besides me strongly suspect that Oweh isn't 100% yet. He's played good, but not as good as I thought. Seems a step slow.

I still think Jelavic is going to play a significant role. I've seen improvement from game to game.

Dioubate might be the heart and soul of this team. However, I think Oweh is going to be right there with him.

After the Purdue exhibition, I thought maybe the talk of Jasper was a little inflated. I mean, anyone can have some shots fall and score. However, he looked better in other phases last night. He might not be a consistent star this year, but he will have some good games and, if he's here, will take a big leap in year 2. He's a little trigger happy for my tastes, though.

I said it in the game thread, but Moreno needs to work on his hands. He catches OK, but the ball gets knocked out of his hands continually.

Chandler continues to come along. I like his shot and he'd always have a green light from me. I think by next year he will be a legitimate star, but he's going to have some great games this year for sure.

Imo, it's much too early to judge this team as.to whether it's a top 10/20 team. All of the pieces are not in place yet the team has not jelled. Give it time, the individual talent is there

Biggest question mark for me right now is Cam Williams really struggling and we need him.
Moreno will be hard to keep ON the floor during conference play if he doesn't learn to shoot free throws.
Chandler really needs to play the 2.
Aberdeen is heartbeat of team right now.
This team will be alot better in February than it is right now.

Interesting point about Aberdeen when Lowe gets healthy, but do you sit Chandler/Noah? I haven't seen Lowes Defense, so I wonder if sitting Chandler would be right. Could be a rotating point guard...whoever is on gets the minutes. Good problem for a coach to have when you get two healthy point guards.

I am going to need to see some other teams play to gauge where we fall in the pecking order.

1st half had some stout defense but miserable offense. 2nd half stepped up on offense, but I thought they gave up some very easy looks on defense. I do think we are a deep team, but not in the mold of a 96/15 team where you could wholesale change and not have much drop off in talent. It's going be interesting to see how the staff molds this team before SEC play.

Right now, I am really enjoying watching Aberdeen and Dioubate. Jasper reminds me some of Cal's old one n dones. He will have some big games for UK, and seems like a guy not afraid to take a big shot. Hopefully Lowe is good to go vs Valpo, would much rather him get some reps in there compared to getting thrown into it in Lou.

Chandler is not a point guard, I think we saw that in the last 3 game. He is much more productive at the 2/3 position. Aberdeen is our best option as backup point

I am a big Chandler fan, but yeah, I do not want to see him running the point for extended minutes. Here and there is fine, but he looks pretty uncomfortable having to run the show.

I think Aberdeen starts and backs up PG. We need at least one of them on the floor as close to 40 min as possible. Looks like Jasper is our best bet to develop into a 3rd PG.

So far we shoot free throws like hot smelly burning garbage.

Otherwise I think we're in solid shape with lots of room to improve.

All I know is that if we don't show up next Tuesday against Louisville, could get ugly real fast..

Hopefully Lowe can go tomorrow and be ready for next Tuesday. I am not too worried about effort next week, Pope has shown he usually has the team ready for the bright lights. It's those non-marquee games where sometimes I question what is going on.

The ul.game should be a good competitive game
a little more concentration at the free throw line should pay dividends. The cats can rebound and play strong defense, just be aggressive

FYI- Pope said Lowe is expected to play tomorrow, full practice today.
