    Friendly Reminder

As we embark on another UK basketball season, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that, as dyed in the wool UK bb fans, we all want the same thing and that's for the success of the program. Having said that, I understand that sometimes in the heat of the moment tempers can flair. There are site rules against attacking fellow posters and regarding foul language. Let's keep our posts civil and the language clean. Thanks and enjoy the season.

Matt. Not complaining but there are a couple of new posters from RR that may become a problem.you may have noticed already. I was on that forum for 23 years and finally quit posting because of the pi**ing contests these that some of these individuals constantly started.
I will not engage the ones that are starting that stuff here. Just an FYI

Agree with the last post 100%. I like it here. One or two individuals who seem to be bullies are making me hesitant to post.

I think I'm pretty well aware of everything that goes on with WCN. Although I don't post much on the bb forum, I'm on here multiple times daily monitoring the situation. Whether or not I approve of how posters conduct themselves as long as they don't violate site rules there's nothing I can do about their behavior. The way I handle situations like these is I pick and choose the posts I reply to. If being argumentative is a person's thing I don't respond to their posts. I say let them argue with themselves. There's also the Ignore Option where you can block a person and you don't see what they post unless someone copies it. Keep on posting fellows. In my opinion you two are definite assets to WCN.

Appreciate it. I am generally against using the ignore feature, but in some cases it ends up being for the best.

A forum is a dedicated online or physical space for public discussion, debate, and exchange of ideas on various topics. As modern message boards, internet forums allow users to post, read, and archive long-form conversations. Historically, the term originates from the Roman marketplace, which served as a central hub for civic life.
The only "pi**ing contests" that I've seen are a couple of posters who make statements such as "but I thought Pope was a disaster" after a win or those who come on a thread about Pope and start in on how they "don't wanna hear about Calipari" and "y'all ain't real fans". You also have the poster who continually accuses others of being "outraged" based upon nothing. I find this is usually projection.

A slight issue is that there is no way to tell tone on these boards AND some posters are wont to automatically ascribe or assign a negative connotation to any given post. This seems to be projection of self as well.

It's not always a "pi**ing contest". Sometimes, that is just how the reader interprets it. Most often, it's just a post with words that the poster feels best describes what they feel or think about a given event, situation, person or place.

Psychological projection is a defense mechanism where individuals unconsciously attribute their own unacceptable thoughts, feelings, or traits—such as jealousy, insecurity, or hostility—onto another person. It acts as a shield to protect the ego from anxiety, guilt, or low self-esteem by shifting focus outward. Common examples include a cheating partner accusing their spouse of infidelity, or an insecure person constantly criticizing others' competence.
Rather than assume the worst about others, why not assume that the person is just making a casual post with no ill intent. I understand that is difficult for many. It may simply "be human" to assume the worst in others as we ascribe to ourselves the noblest of intentions.
Be not an hypocrite in the sight of men, and take good heed what thou speakest. Exalt not thyself, lest thou fall, and bring dishonour upon thy soul, and so God discover thy secrets, and cast thee down in the midst of the congregation, because thou camest not in truth to the fear of the Lord, but thy heart is full of deceit.?

I deployed the.ignore feature on one of the argumentative complainers and my posting life has been much less stressful and more positive.
