Seems to me that Purdue got flagged early.

I hope that is a harbinger of things to come.

I remember the '96 team running other teams off of the floor for most of the season.

'97 team did it to a lessor degree until Minnesota beat Ron Mercer to death in the Final Four.

That was a heck of a game.

      Super psyched about this season.

      Kentucky Basketball is back!

Just finished watching a replay. The thing that jumped out to me is how much more athletic we are than last year. I mean we knew that just by looking at the roster but it’s fun to see it in action. A few more thoughts before bed:

The bigs played well against two very good post players. Moreno and Garrison are both good passers, just need to get some more reps to get the timing down. I don’t think either will play the Amari role this season but if the offense is in a funk it’s a nice chess move to have the big man initiate the offense. Dioubate or Jelavic could certainly be that guy too. JQ is a good passers as well, hopefully he can get back to game speed quickly when he returns.

It will be nice to have Lowe on the court, I started to get nervous watching us bring the ball up the court. Shaky ball handling at times from Aberdeen, Johnson, Oweh, and Noah.

Lineup I’d like to see: Aberdeen, Chandler, Oweh, Dioubate, Garrison. Athletic and skilled on both ends of the court, and all five guys make hustle plays and have a knack for getting the ball. Theoretically all five can hit the 3 ball too.

Jasper Johnson has a touch of Dillingham to him. Probably a touch less offensively explosively but I think he’ll be less of a liability on defense too. It will be interesting to see how much Pope reins him in to work within the flow of the offense, or continues to allow him to make plays in his style. He’s the kind of player who can get you back in a game, or lose you your lead.

Alright, enough from me. Go Cats

Late to the conversation as I couldn't watch all of it live. Oh boy! I don't get out in front of my skis too often, but after this performance I feel this is our best team since '15. The athleticism popped off from the jump, followed by the defense. Those areas are what kept us from being special last season. Doing what we did last night without our starting PG and future lotto pick in JQ, I can't see anyone fretting about what we lack to contend. We may not have a Kobe Brea, but what we do have is the depth, the athletes, the defense, and the rebounding. Our size and depth was a problem for Purdue and I can see us wearing teams out. Be very excited Cat fans!

We are a very deep team with players everywhere. It looked like we won that fairly easily while maybe playing at 80% of capacity. That was the most impressive UK game I can recall in recent memory.

Yes if you miss a game he has it out in rapid fire fashion.

Team looked really good. Trying to not get too over confident based off a scrimmage.
No way is Purdue the best team. They are not athletic at all. Not saying they are not a good team but no way number 1. Maybe around 15 range.
Love the additions of Aberdeen and Dioubate. Moreno and Johnson look ready. Still need Lowe and JQ back to be a title contender IMO.
Pope might be forced to play more than 10 when JQ and Lowe return. Good problem to have.
Question for anyone. When was the last time UK had a player from Lexington make a impact? Last I can remember was Minnefield. I am probably forgetting someone. But Johnson looks like he will be a big contributer.

At least now we use the scholarships and field a full team.

Cameron Mills made an impact in 98 for sure. Dunbar kid and legacy player. We would not have won a few games if not for him.

Welp that was an awesome start and a great first glance. Still trying to get over the fact we played a Power 5 team for an exhibition. The whole wheat side of me is excited to see how this team progresses from here. The frosty side....is Purdue really the number 1 team in the country??? Were they just rusty?? Hard to say but really impressed with the outcome
