The Pope SEC days presser a reporter asked what the chances of JQ not playing. Pope said 100% he will be playing for UK in 2025-26. I think that story stems from that line of questioning. Myron Metcaffe stated that Pope wanted to probably get in front on all the angst of another situation like in the past under Cal. Pope even stated that JQ wants to be practicing now to play now but the staff is holding him up.

How would that news have been taken if it happened? I remember Sharpe in game warmups doing NBA dunk contest style dunks and thought that that dude should be playing. JQ was dunking in flip flops over the summer and this isn't an NBA Farm team anymore. So excited to see JQ go beast mode on opponents.

JQ was always a risk vs. reward pick up with his injury, but I do not think Pope would bring a guy on who wasn't willing to play (especially when his NIL $ could've gone to someone else). From what I have read, JQ is itching to get out there.

I agree with others - that ESPN invented this story. But it did give me pause for a second to think about whether it had been discussed if JQ wouldn't play at all if the rehab wasn't going well or much slower than everyone wants.

I think we will see he end of Nov or early december. I think he will play a game and miss a game for a bit. Reason is to rest him and bring him on slowly. I then think by the end of December we will see hi a full go if all goes well.

I fully believe all his teammates who say he’s itching to get after it. Just hope there’s no ring of “handlers” forcing him to be held out. No indication there is, but it’s happened before. These potential handlers big payday is still a year off.
