Depth and athleticism. We've got the dudes. We'll wear out a lot of teams.
Going forward, Christian Laettner volunteers to catch any dildos flung on a basketball court - or anywhere else.

        Thanks for posting this.
        1. Lowe looks crafty with the ball and ability to slip to the bucket
        2. Diaobate gets his hands on nearly every rebound
        3. We were clanking a lot of threes, but apparently every man has a green light
        4. Garrison should never be allowed to try and back a man down with the dribble
        5. Cam looked a little out of sorts but has definite skills
        6. Jelavic is smooth on the perimeter
        7. Noah looks quicker

Action packed early in the season. Tons of mistakes tons of good things. Jelavic, Williams, Candler, Lowe, Garrison, Moreno, Mo all had moments. Hawthrone while skinny in the leg department looks fuller up in the shoulders. His shot is very pure. He gets up and down the court with all the others. It was like watching a ping pong match. The action was back and forth.

Yup. Like the one pro scout told KSR, There are 9 guys that will be in the pros on this team. Not all this year but 9 guys will get there. IT will be the deepest team and come tourney time we should be hitting on all cylinders.

I don't think Moreno and Johnson are your typical KENTUCKY freshman kids just glad to be on the team type...

I watched a lot of it, and have some thoughts.

Lowe - about what I (personally) expected. Very good, super quick, very athletic....but not what I would call superstar material. But then again, neither was Lamont Butler last year. Very solid, though, and will make a great starting point guard and I expect great things.... just not top 10 NBA draft pick material after next year, like I think some fans are expecting.

Aberdeen - very good, love the attitude he brings. Hustle, intangibles, a little more consistent shot than what I'm seeing from some of the others. Not sure he starts all season, but the minutes will definitely be there. Overall, very solid player and great addition.

Chandler - has impressed me more than I expected. I heard all the coachspeak and talk about him being "ready to take a huge leap his second year"...but didn't really take it all that seriously. I just thought it was the typical "raw raw...atta boy" type stuff we see when coaches want to motivate players and excite the fan base. Wrong! He looks like a guy ready for a bigger role than I expected this year.

Jasper - raw, unpolished, but the skill, athleticism and ability is definitely there. At this point I'm not sure exactly what to expect.

Noah - looks really good physically. Looks like he's spent a lot of time in the gym conditioning his body. Looks quicker....but his shot really needs to fall. If his shot isn't falling, he's not contributing a whole lot else. He wasn't hitting them when I was watching, but we all know he has that ability.

Kam Williams - maybe the biggest surprise. I thought all the talk of him being a "first rounder" and highest drafted player next year of all the guys on the team was crazy talk....but maybe not. Still has a funky looking shot, but hard to argue with the results. Like Aberdeen, he's a bit of an intangibles guy who can give you a bit of everything. I'm liking what I'm seeing.

Hawthorne - wish his body was physically more mature, he looks like the typical Cal recruit. That said, he has a really nice skill set and shot for someone his size. I'm not expecting a lot of PT this year...think Jordan Burks his one year at Kentucky...but the following year,he should be good to go.

Mo D - Hustle, effort and intangibles guy with the physicality to boot! Goes after every rebound, and will body and D guys up. The kind of player you want on your team. Definitely looks the part.

Jelavic - Once his shot starts falling, look out! Physically, I was much more impressed that I expected. Looks to be in much better shape than I thought, with his late start and coming from Europe. That said, he was quicker than I expected with that size. Did everything well except shoot the ball. I expect him to become more valuable with experience and as the season progresses.

Garrison - looks like he's ready to take the next step. His confidence seems to be better, and he seems a bit more polished. Hopefully he's found a way to be more consistent this year, because he showed flashes last year. That might be his biggest obstacle to overcome.

Moreno - confession time. I think I was wrong about this ki.....err....young man. Because that's exactly what he is, a young man. He looked like a man amongst boys out there. He's much bigger and more polished than I expected. I had him buried pretty deep on the depth chart because of all the depth we have this year..but he'll see his share of PT. I don't see how Pope could NOT play him!

Potter - maybe exceeded my expectations a little. Still don't think he'll see much PT this year, but at least I'm not worried about him being a Jared Carter is he is pressed into action.

I’m excited about Lowe. Think he’s poised to be a really good to great college PG. But, yeah, top 10 draft pick would be a meteoric rise from where he was in high school or while at Pitt. Only way that happens is he leads us to #9!

There are people on here that think/thought Lowe is a top 10 draft pick??? Yikes.

If Lowe runs the team and hits open shots when available he will do his job. Biggest thing for him is playing defense as well. we have some beasts on the defense and cannot have a hole on defense at the point. Could be the difference in Lowe or Aberdeen running the team.
