Great news simply because I think he's the X factor to this team from the time it was announced we had signed him.. I don't know what kind of season he will have or how it will go but from the get go, I feel like Mark Pope stole something with this one....
We've never had much luck with foreign players in the past. Happy to see Jelavic cleared and the "will he or won't he" won't spill into the season. I, too, think he's the X Factor on this team. What's not to like about a guy with his skill set that's been playing with grown men for a few years now?
Now if we can get JQ healthy we will be a complete team. Also hope nothing going on with Oweh's turf toe. I have seen stories out on the web and such that he is or is not practicing. Most of the fall clips I have not see him too much. Mostly Lowe, Chandler, Williams, Mo, Noah, Moreno and such.

Agree about Oweh. He doesn't seem to be doing much.
From the Herald Leader article reporting this news:
Jelavic will be listed as a sophomore — in both academic and athletic standing — for the Wildcats this season. Jelavic took college-level courses during his time as a pro player and enough of those credits transferred for him to be designated as a sophomore at UK. He will have three seasons of eligibility in college basketball as a result of the NCAA’s decision. Even though Jelavic has never played college basketball, this type of ruling has become more common with the influx of older, more experienced international players in recent years.
Nice, glad that is all out of the way. International guys usually have a little bit of a learning curve, but once he gets going I think he could be a big piece for this year and the future.
Really glad he's eligible. And I suppose it doesn't matter too much, but the NCAA saying he's a sophomore academically and athletically is a bit odd to me. Now we only get him for 3 years...if he stays.

Yeah. But honestly hoping to have ANY player for 4 years seems like a pipe dream now.

The guy who played in the G-League and was declared eligible will be entering as a junior. Seems like a case of the NCAA trying to have some form of control.
One thing that always kind of bothered me.....is that Jelavic's name was noticeably absent when we would see lists of the "incoming freshmen class" AND/OR the "incoming portal transfers". It was like he wasn't being added to the roster at all! I wasn't sure what he was considered because he never was listed in either group!

Had to do with his college courses he took in Croatia. Evidently they must have transferred over???

I guess since he took the college courses he cannot be a freshman? Then he was not in NCAA so no transfer there. He is just a new player signed???
