Gone are the good old days when college sports were amateur. At least on the surface.Philippians 4:11-4:13👍 1 -
No problems with it.
And the greedy SOBs will not use that extra money to make it any more affordable or enjoyable for the fans. Too bad.
I always go back to the thought that sports fans should boycott everything for a year. Send a message. Sure, you can make money. But...there are ways to not suck all of the joy out of it and to allow the average fan to enjoy it as well."I am the punishment of God. If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you."

Once upon a time there was great value to a free 4 year college education to come play college sports.
That was a long time ago and most Don't remember it but it is true.🥰 1Comment

Not worth nearly as much.
The moment college basketball and football became a huge profit earning venture, this became inevitable.
The NCAA bilked it for all it was worth whilst punishing kids for getting a few hundred bucks for food. That also made this inevitable.
The NCAA should have created a structure whereby these kids could live decently in college and make enough money to enjoy college for four years.
Instead, you got kids and college being punished for "impermissible benefits" that include dorms that are different from students, a decent meal plan, a coach paying for a kid's flight home when that kids mother died, getting too many slices of pizza, getting free meals at a local restaurant.
The infamous Emory envelope had a lousy $1,000 in it. ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS! That led to an investigation that nearly destroyed the Kentucky Basketball program.
The NCAA's greed made this all but inevitable.
College Sports makes BILLIONS each year. College coaches are paid millions each year whether they deserve it or not. They get million dollar paydays for the act of failing. Some of the fail horribly and still walk away with millions.
But the kids who play the game. The ones without whom none of this would exist shouldn't get a freakin' dime. It's the end times because a college athletes gets to earn a buck.
I remember a guy in Texas who played baseball couldn't get a record contract or the NCAA would rule him ineligible. Because he MIGHT have been getting that contract NOT because he had talent but because he was a college athlete.
The NCAA is greedy and they ruined this all."I am the punishment of God. If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you."

I do not disagree with anything you just posted but 50,60 years ago there was value in a college education. The NCAA was corrupt and greedy even back then, Moreso now.

Agree it will not be a good look at all. But I do not see any way around it as these schools are going to have to get every $$$ out of anyone willing to spend it. If not the current way things are going teams will be left behind. I hope they limit to one on a jersey and possibly one on the pants/shorts for sports. Something smallish (maybe 3x4 size on each) and maybe just a logo only no words.Proverbs 25:24Comment

Im not a fan of it in pro sports...just another money grab for people without improving the product.
Its not like these teams aren't already get money from TV, in stadium ads, radio etc now they're gonna look like a nascar/nhra driver.
Nothing against racing..it was traditional for racers to have that...just as its traditional for baseball/basketball/football not to....jmoComment

This was inevitable due to the greed of the NCAA."I am the punishment of God. If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you."
