If Lowe is a top 5 point guard, we are a legit championship contender.

Is Lowe a good on ball defender?

IMO, if he’s top five, then he must be a good defender.

          Sure can’t see that.
He did it last year in spurts. Now with another year under his belt , he should be fine provided Johnson isn't ready.

From a athletic standpoint, he's as athletic as anyone on the team....

If he takes care of business just like any high skilled NCAA player, he can be #1. If he plays like he did last year he isn't top 10. It is all up to him. He has that it factor. To be top 5 he has to do it on both sides of the ball and do his best to be mistake free as much as possible. Better question is this: Is UK a top 5 roster in NCAA?

When he was forced to run the point last year out of necessity he was terrible at it.

He is just not a point guard. And never will be. If Chandler has to run the point this season then we are in a world of hurt.

Two years out of basketball playing in the almighty SEC, I wouldn't call it that horrible with all things considered. As a backup PG guarding the other teams PG, Chandler is a problem for the opposing team, he gets after it on defense.

Good news is Lowe is the PG but if Johnson gets the freshman blues, Chandler will have to fill that role, no other choice. Still I agree that Chandler isn't a traditional point but I do trust Pope has seen enough to know he can fill that need.

We will be fine regardless. In the era of position less basketball, our season won't hinge on a traditional backup point guard running the offense. It's not like Pope is about to put the back up PG in isolation and ask him to be the go to scorer anyways.

Last year, the depth chart at PG was essentially Lamont Butler, Kerr Krissa and Travis Perry. Once Krissa was lost for the year, Perry was bumped up to primary backup and Collin Chandler might see time there in a pinch. And if Butler was hurt, Jaxson Robinson would see action at the point

This year, we have Jaland Lowe, Denzel Aberdeen, Jasper Johnson and Collin Chandler who can all play the point. Our depth and overall situation at PG is much better this year compared to last.

With Jaland Lowe, Denzel Aberdeen and Jasper Johnson on the roster ahead of him at PG on the depth chart, I don't think we'll have to worry about Collin spending a whole lot of time there. But you are right in the sense that if we have to rely on him to see major minutes at the point then we are definitely in a bad position. He'll likely only see limited time there, though, so I'm not worried.
