UK to Donate 45% of NIL Revenue-Sharing to Men's Basketball

Kentucky announces itself as a "basketball school," it appears.

Probably in line with what they had to commit to this group of players we have here now. But certainly doesn't do Stoops any favors. Could be their way of pushing him out maybe. I have to think this will be a year to year decision based on any number of factors. Hopefully this LLC setup makes it all a non-issue and that all programs will benefit greatly from it.

      Good.

Kentucky football is a mediocre product, even when we're "good." Don't get me wrong: I love Kentucky, and there's nothing better than our football team winning games, but this is a basketball school and always will be.

The little Cal/Stoops beef about it a few years ago was comical, in the sense that (for once) Cal was absolutely right.

Good news, long term: this will almost assuredly push Stoops out the door after this year, even if we're 6-6. Bad news: nobody worth a turd is going to come here, unless we get a guy who feels a sense of obligation (Sumrall, Brown).

It is year to year.. Uks number puts them about what the big east will be putting into their basketball schools since they don't have football.. And really,, you could give UK football 18 million and they'd still be middle pack at best..

I am glad to hear this as our football program is not much anymore. Playing in the SEC I don't see the football program ever having a winning season as long as Stoops is at UK. Love to see both BB & FB do well but I don't see it in my lifetime.

Maybe Goldie Hawn would coach the football team.
Going forward, Christian Laettner volunteers to catch any dildos flung on a basketball court - or anywhere else.

Around 10 Million towards mens basketball. I am guessing that football gets about 40% and then the other sports will share in the final 15%?

Not sure how they will work all that out. Also I am guessing guys will sign NIL directly from companies and such.

Probably wouldn't be much worse and definitely easier on the eyes.

                Jeff Ruby stock would plummet.

I would be fine going 0-12 in football every year if we finish top 5 in basketball. I love UK football and greatly appreciate all the incredible accomplishments by Stoops during his tenure (and Rich Brooks).....but in my heart, UK basketball being excellent is the only thing that REALLY matters to me in the sports universe.

Definitely agree with the bad news part.

Longer term, I expect the SEC will go to a revenue model that rewards competitive football team and reduces the payout for non competitive ones. One guess as to which category UK will be in.

I mean, this is the clear endgame.

Kentucky football is about to enter the Joker Phillips/Bill Curry dead zone, and stay there.

The article says "Kentucky is believed to be spending 45%" no source, no proof, just one mans belief. No one knows how much money is going to each sport or each player for that matter. Just more click bait

MJ has already said this isn't true.

I also agree with people saying we can put 100% to football and still won't outbid alabama or UT or Texas and so on.

This isn't all the NIL stuff anyways so can always make up more n either sport there too.

If, and I mean if we get a head football coach that is worth it, maybe even it out. Who knows if this number is accurate, but when it came to who got the watch and who got the Cadilac between Bear Bryant and Adolf Rupp, we know who got what. I love football. Not as much as UK basketball mind you. I love all the nuances each sport provides. It just seems UK football makes too many unforced errors under Stoops. Plus, Stoops has had his foot out the door at least once, who knows how many more times. I want to win another Basketball Championship. Put distance between Duke, UNC and UCONN. Take another spot off of that UCLA lead as well. Not sure if we can do that this year, but we will have as good a chance as any team out there, and I think that is all anyone can ask for. Would I like to see UK football win one? Yes. But honestly, what is the probability of that happening? More than likely not in my lifetime. I am 66 right now. I was hoping we would have either caught UCLA or passed them by now in basketball championship wins. To be a football powerhouse, I just do not see it. But maybe an up and comer can come along and ignite a fire and builds the football program up. There is no doubt in my mind the fans would support it. But right now, all my focus is basketball.

We definitely know now where the priority stands .
