Could your aunt Fanny have recruited the 5 star talent to get her to the Final Fours and a title? I get the guy sucked at making adjustments in game situations but getting the guys to come play for you is also part of the coaching equation. If it hadn't been for Cal most of those kids would have ended up at Memphis and not here. My point is, as much as I disliked the end of his tenure and wanted him gone, I won't diminish what he did accomplish.
It's not really damn the final 4's, but my aunt fanny (98 years old) could have gotten to the final fours with those teams, and just maybe further. She would have played a zone if the situation called for it. And I'm pretty damn sure she knows how to defend against one. Ole triple C's couldn't do either.Comment

I agree with everything you said . Very well put. I sure don’t ever want to see a Cal banner in Rupp.Cal in the Rafters, NO way. Cal admitted time and time again that the best night for UK was draft night. He didn't play to win games; he played to showcase his players to the NBA. He didn't play the best combo of players to showcase one or two players to the League. The guy overprotected players with injuries to the point it hurt the team, and on any other team, those injuries would have kept guys off the floor for a few games at best. This was also to protect them for the league. I never liked his BS attitude toward the fans and saw it from day one, not just at the end when he called us basketball beanies or whatever it was. Cal loved Cal and the persona of getting guys to the NBA... He loves to tell people that he has x number of players making 800 billion dollars. I don't even think he really even prepared those guys for the next level. My last point, and then I'll take a breath, he let wayyyyy too many guys into the league that were no more prepared for the bright lights than you or I are when they could have benefited themselves and Kentucky had they stayed. They can hang a banner for him in the NBA. If you wanna hang him in Rupp, that's ok, just not on a banner.
Caught my breath... had there been 3... as in (three) more minutes in the 2012 title game, he was fixin to give ole hair piece and Kansas another Natty just like he did in 08. The Phog would be spending the summer rewatching their three natties since our last one in 98, two of which would have come at the expense of Cal's stall ball.👍 1Comment

If that's the case, let's wipe away everything about him. Get on the horn and ask Mitch to remove the Final Four and National Title banners from the Cal era. Let's vacate the wins!👍 2😂 1Comment

You must be related to him. Everything u post is cherries and roses when it comes to Cal. Nothing I say or the guy that I responded to will change anything. We are just giving reasons why we don’t like him and why we don’t wanner his banner in Rupp. Nothing more, nothing less.👍 1Comment

Cal recruited them yeah, but it wasn't because he was a great coach or recruiter. They came because Cal apparently has connections to the NBA. One of the blue bloods was going to get these players, and to be honest and they would have ended up in the NBA, had they gone to Western Kentucky, they would have ended up in the league.

But let's say he is a great recruiter, that means he was good at ONE thing. I'm not in favor of hanging a banner for a great recruiter who underachieved with all his great recruits and sucked at everything else. The value of time is beyond computation. Life is too short to be trifled away. We have but a few days of probation in which to prepare for eternity.👍 1Comment

LOL, that would be a bit extreme. I just ain't in favor of a banner. I mean, the guy isn't on my personal hit list or anything. I'd have a beer with him while I told him how bad he sucked. The value of time is beyond computation. Life is too short to be trifled away. Some people are practically as much of a John Calipari fan as they are a University of Kentucky fan. As crazy as that sounds, I've read enough posts here and elsewhere over the years to realize that's actually true. Others are such diehard UK fans that EVERYTHING associated with the program is good and positive. Period . They can't bring themselves to be negative when it comes to UK. Then there are those who TRY to keep things positive and they may gloss over the negative in an effort to keep things positive. You must be related to him. It's hard to tell exactly where some posters fit into that equation, but over time they'll reveal themselves. In the meantime try giving the benefit of the doubt until it's so obvious it can't be avoided 😂....and then avoid any Cal worshipper like the plague.Comment

Read my posts. It was time for him to go. I said he sucked as a coach when it came to making in game adjustments or decisions. His last several years were absolutely grounds for termination. But, to not want his name in the rafters is ludicrous. Hate him all you want, he won a title and took the program to some pretty historic highs.

But here's the thing: there are pretty objective metrics used to determine whether a coach gets a place in the rafters, and Cal accomplished all of them. You must be related to him. My comment wasn't directed at you...it was to the other guy whose post I quoted.

I hadn't read your posts or any specific posts leading up to that point. I just know that I've seen quite a bit of Cal worship in forums over the years and I saw an opportunity to make the following comment, which I stand by. If it doesn't apply to you, then great!

Love Cal or hate him, he most definitely deserves a banner. He won 410 games here. Sure, the wins total should've been more along with at least 2 more Titles, but there's no denying the run he went on from day 1. All that said I'm glad he's gone. Those last few seasons were inexcusable.Comment
