I try to keep my expectations in check, but I got high hopes for this team. I think the pieces are there for a special season .

I don’t know who will start, but I think the best five combination will be:

              G Lowe
              G Aberdeen
              G Oweh
              F Dioubate
              F Quaintance

That team should be able to score and defend with anybody in the nation.

People worry about 3 point shooting, but Aberdeen, Oweh, and Dioubate are efficient shooters. If Lowe can be more efficient and takes good shots, shooting won’t be a problem for that group.

But the biggest thing is defense. That group should be a nightmare to score on. Especially once Quaintance is in there to anchor the defense. Oweh, Dioubate, and Quaintance might be the best defensive trio in the country.

And that group has lots of experience. Aberdeen and Oweh are Seniors that have played in a power conference their entire careers. Lowe and Dioubate are Juniors who have played in a power conference the last two years. Quaintance is only a Sophomore, but was on the Big 12 All-Defensive Team as a Freshman. That group won’t have to step up their games much, because they have already been playing at this level.

I am very excited to watch this group grow together. Their primary weakness is that they haven’t played together as a group yet.

If we can get AJ into the country, I think we'll be unstoppable by March. We're gonna have the size, depth, shooting, defense, experience and all the right pieces in place to hang #9. I don't see many weaknesses with this squad.

The potential on defense is what excites me a lot for next year. The last couple years, UK’s defense has looked like Swiss cheese in stretches. This seems like a group who will take pride in defense and smother some teams on that end.

We might not see this team score 100 pts like last year, but I’m betting we hold some teams to their lowest scores. Really hope JQ is healthy, cause he can be a force in the SEC.

After winning the natty in 2012 I felt pretty confident CCC would've won multiple nattys at UK with the talent he was bringing in. Then like many realized he needed big time talent to make up for his coaching flaws.

So excited to see this team play. I'm hoping to take my youngest to a game this year.

If this bunch can get healthy and stay healthy this could be a really special team.
