81 here .. First became aware of UK basketball on January 29, 1955. Was living in Camden, TN as my dad was finishing up his training program with TVA. Some station out of Nashville televised UK at Vandy that night. Announcers talked about the UK program and Coach Rupp, the man in the brown suit. Two months later, Dad finished his training and accepted a position with TVA in Paducah. In the fall started listening to Claude Sullivan call UK football and then basketball. Also listened to Cawood some .. Paducah had two different radio stations broadcasting the games with Claude on one and Cawood on the other. Became hooked immediately.

First game in person was Rupp's Runts versus Dayton, Mid-East regional in Iowa City. Cats won and beat Michigan and Cazzie Russell the next night. A week later the Cats suffered their worst loss ever in the title game to Texas Western.

71 years old. Been with them since Nash. Was in school during the transition between Coach Rupp and Coach Hall. Drove Coach Hall and his assistants on recruiting trips. Some of my best friends were on the Super Kittens. Fondest memories were going to see the Runts and Casey-Issel-Pratt-Mills teams at Memorial Coliseum when I was a kid. Hands down the Coliseum was the best basketball venue ever IMO.

Soon be 78. I recall the old folks talking about Hagan, Spivey, Beard and others, but the first team I followed when I really understood basketball was The Fiddling Five.
