I have a question about Rupp's Rafters.

I wasn't registered to post there, because when I tried to create an account, I was told that I would have to pay a subscription fee (either monthly or yearly) in order to create an account.

I read the forums there almost daily, but never posted because I wasn't going to pay to post. Then, I see people saying that it was "going to a pay model", which would indicate that all the created accounts posting there were free accounts! So now I'm really confused!

So can someone tell me why I was being told for nearly a year that I had to pay to create an account? Was it like that for every new account, but others who had been around for a while were grandfathered in with a free account until they finally did away with those?

I'm like you,never posted or signed up at RR because I ain't paying for crap to post UK basketball when there's 100 places to chat for free, plus I ain't guaranteed to wake up in the morning lol .

With that being said, i would donate to this site just to keep it open for business, it's worth that to me personally.

I was a member of WCN after my brother Jim Wade introduced me to Rick at Davis Wade (no relation!) probably 20 years ago. I'm not sure why I migrated to Rivals but it is nice to be home. I look forward to lively and civil discussion of all things Cats!!

I'm guessing it must have been free at one point....then they started charging the new members but let olderones remain free.... until they decided to run everybody off and charge everybody.

Whatever Rowland thinks is going to happen, every link on the old rivals sites leads to members only postings….1 dollar to start then 120 a year.

The new Rafters is up here . My Rafters login still gives the error message, but I tried logging in with my old KSR credentials and it works and would have let me post if I had wanted to for free. I had read a Rowlands post (before Monday) that all the old message board content had been saved and would one day be available again on the updated site but might take time during migration; no old posts have populated yet. Curious if the login issue will get fixed or if people will have to sign up anew should they choose to post there (I saw posts earlier but it was unclear what the solution will be).

With the multiple posts over the last few weeks from posters discussing what might happen when “the day” came and asking On3 for more info, it is surprising that more (clear) information was not available. I have been through several website migrations and know it can take days for certain things to become stable and fully available, etc. Some advance notice with faqs would have been helpful. I think of the posters who may be on vacation or offline for a few days; if they missed the board over the last week, they likely will be wondering what happened and where to go….
