    Williams and Brea Drafted

Brea will end up with the Suns, Williams with the Celtics.

Really good video from Kentucky Basketball of Brea and his family.

Not trying to trash Jaxson Robinson—really glad he came here. But I doubt a wrist injury scared the NBA. So was he really all that close to staying in the draft a year earlier?

Hope someone gives him a shot and he makes it big.

Congrats and good luck to Koby and Amari!

Finally, a Wildcat a Celtic. Stevens trust Pope, . I don't think he trusted Calipari players unless they were sure fire top 10 picks.

It's good that Pope cracked the seal on draft picks.

The trick will probably be to have guys like Brea and Williams...but to also have a first rounder in there. Those guys do tend to bolster really good teams.

I'm so old that I remember debates about Tubby Smith needing an early departure/first round pick because it'd be good for the image of the program. We've come a long way...however that sentiment, i.e. "talent drives the bus" has changed, but it does still apply in certain ways. You can't not have first-round talent if you want to compete for titles. It might come to pass that next year's team doesn't have a first-rounder, but we at least need to be close and we need to have multiple guys in that Williams/Brea mold.

Agreed, glad Pope could put that on his resume.

Quaintance is a 1st rounder next summer.

Having draft picks is mandatory for elite programs that win games at the rate we demand. You have to have tremendous talent to win, it’s simply that the makeup of great teams has changed some.

Having Amari and Kobe drafted, as well as Otega next year , demonstrates clear value in the staff to develop talented college basketball players who find themselves hitting the portal. Yes they want to be paid now but they still dream of the NBA

Believe Butler signed a two way deal whatever that is.

It lets players split time between NBA and the G League.

He was a cool cat. Hope he stays connected to the program.

Can't believe that Jax got overlooked...a good shooter like that...
Also Carr...a big that can play inside and outside figured a team would have snatched him second round.
Then again never been good at predicting NBA pics🤷‍♂️

I feel bad for Jaxson Robinson because he was on a roll when he injured his wrist. I think he could have garnered at least a late 2nd round pick had he stayed healthy.

Carr is a little harder to project, but you have to think he can play professionally somewhere if he wishes to do so. I'm not sure he's an NBA guy though.

Pierre Rondo in 5 years, real deal PG for a 7th grader. Goes left right and great court vision..

6'10" slow guys who shoot it 32% from three don't have much future in today's NBA. Very few back to the basket post players anymore.

Not trying to hijack this thread which is about UK players, but a few comments made me think about last years Rutgers team. How bad was the rest of that team being that they have two top 5 picks and still finished under .500?

My point is always thinking that draft picks and top talent are important, and sometimes it is, but sometimes it isn't. Duke proved that having top tier talent can get you on the brink of winning a championship, but when you look at the rest of the final four, only one other player was a first rounder(Clayton) and in the championship game one of the teams(which knocked off the Duke team full of NBA talent) had zero draft picks.

Just reiterates the juggling acts programs have to do now to produce good teams and it isn't just draft picks, but old guys that develop and turn into great college players that will possibly never sniff a minute of playing time in the NBA.
