Ranking the Losses from the Cal Era

We are in the summer doldrums so its time for rankings like this.

No doubt the Wisconsin loss was the most devastating of his era to this point. I'm not sure there could ever be another more so. It was an historic run that ended in a bad way. UK will probably never get another chance at a 40-0 season again.
For me the UConn losses were next. The one in the semi's a little more than the other one. They could have easily won that game if they had hit their foul shots. Same could be said for the one in 2014. Also just hated losing to that devil, Calhoun.
The WVU loss in 2010 for me just didn't seem as bad. I had bad feeling going into that game. I knew WVU was very good defensively and coupled with UK's erratic shooting could pose huge problems. And it did. But in the end you knew good things were there to stay for the Calipari era and knew UK wuld be back there someday soon.

It seems like they ranked every UK loss during Cal's time. Not many of those to rank.

    Kentucky fan since 1971.

You get through the obvious four (Wisconsin, two UCONNs, West Virginia) then it gets pretty tough...and more interesting to think about.

Robert Morris would have to be up there, but to me at that point the season was a wash. The Vanderbilt loss in 2013 in the SEC Tournament was brutal. Tennessee at Tennessee that season when everything broke down and we were just crushed was embarrassing. Also South Carolina in 2014, the Cal ejection game.

South Carolina game in 2014 was really bad. I pretty much gave up on that team after that game.

The Tennessee loss in 2013 just confirmed to me that team was going nowhere and had basically thrown in the towel after Noel's injury.

I almost expected the loss to RM. That team had given up and they were going into a very hostile environment. They really had no shot in that game although they did hang in there and nearly pulled it out. But I just didn't really care at that point.

The loss at Indiana never bothered me. It was a regular season non conference loss to a pretty good team. They lost on fluky type shot too, a 35 foot jumper. I think the aftermath is what got people. IU celebrated that all season. That 2012 UK team said that loss gave them a lot of incentive that season. They got sick of seeing the last shot on ESPN every night.

I didn't like the loss to Vandy in the 2012 tourney. UK was better than them but it didn't hurt them any at all in the long run.

That is the only time in the Cal era that I have stopped watching a game when there was a lot of time left, just couldn't take it. It just looked like they were a high school team playing a college team.

The 2014 UCONN lost hurt the most for me and it still does...should have #9 hanging in the rafters

It's the Wisc. loss, for me. I thought sure we were going to go 40-0 and hang number nine. I doubt we'll ever be that close to an undefeated season again.

As mentioned above, losing to Calhoun and having him more or less own us during this Prime Era has an extra sense of sting. I don't like the guy (Or Boeheim) at all and despise losing to either in the same way that many of you would hate losing to Rick. Except I think I'm worse.

Wisconsin is the game that had the most at stake, though, no denying that.

No doubt, I will never get over that, can't imagine ever having that opportunity again.

It' a toss up. Still thought the 2010 team was the team to beat. Didn't really expect us to win it all against UConn because after Stein was hurt, really didn't expect to even make it to the Championship game. This season was tough in the end but really felt all along a loss before the dance would have helped us. Probaly go with this past season as a shock because I really thought you could pencil us in as the best team in the land............

I agree, still trying to get over this loss. Haven't posted much lately because I needed a break from all of this. After the loss, I was posting but to be honest, was mad as hell at Cal, players, and all of the above. The only history this year's team made was the team that "choked", plain and simple...................

WVU and Wisconsin. Both years we were the best team by far and couldn't bring it home. We should have 3-4 Titles under Cal.
