    NCAA Seed Talk: Official Thread

As they've done the past four or five seasons, the NCAA released its mock NCAA Tournament bracket today.

The SEC has three #1 seeds: Alabama, Auburn, Florida.

    Duke is the other #1.

No word yet on where UK fell. I'm guessing on the 4 line.

Tennessee and Texas A&M are two-seeds.

Meaning Kentucky has beaten half of the top 8 in the bracket.

Kentucky is a 3-seed in the mock bracket.

Looks like 6 of the 16 from the SEC.

Kentucky was the #10 overall team, outperforming their NET, Pomeroy, and AP ranking.

But, we lost to Vandy and Arkansas. We should give up on the season.

Had we not lost to Vandy and Arkansas we're a 1 seed.

You could definitely swap Clemson in here as well. That woulda been a big win.

Which is wild to say. I don't think any of us looked at the roster in October and thought we could end up a three seed or higher. We still have multiple games against top ten opponents and the SEC tournament will likely bring more. Pope should be in the running for coach of the year.

Unless Kentucky gets really healthy soon, I see this team being a #4-#6 seed.

Yeah, I think this will be the case

                        Probably so.

4 or 5 seed is maybe not a terrible spot for them. They're the kind of team that rises to the occasion better than they do winning games they should win. If they could advance out to meet the #1 (which won't happen unless we're healthy), then you can see them winning that game just because this team does stuff like that.

Kentucky has generally performed better in an underdog rope this year. I had actually been thinking of a 6-7 seed barring some unexpected good news or the existing team 'clicking'.

If I recall didn't Calipari have a couple teams on the 7 or 8 spot do some magic? The Knight/Harrelson team and the Randle team?
My mind gets befuddled these days.

The 2011 team with Knight and Jorts was actually a 4 seed. The Randle team was an 8.

I thought the '11 team got the worst hosing I've seen with Kentucky in the NCAAs. That team was probably more like a 2 seed. I've long thought they were trying to set up a UK/Ohio St. match-up with that one. IIRC there was talk after that bracket that it was one of the all-time worst.

Because the SEC is almost certainly gonna have three number 1 seeds, you would think if Kentucky got a 4/5 they would put us in a non-SEC 1 seed bracket...which would mean we might have a rematch with Duke if we made it to the Sweet Sixteen.

This could be the year that we meet up with Wisconsin as well. If we fall to a 6 you could see them being our second-round foe if they're a 3 in our region. Something to think about.
