    Former Vandy Player Passes Away

Dai-Jon Parker drowned Thursday near Indianapolis. He had started for them the bulk of the 2013-14 season. He had transferred to the University of Indianapolis.

Read elsewhere that he couldn't swim very well. Not wearing a life jacket. Tragic - make better decisions people, please!

It said in the article he was in an inner tube being pulled by a boat. You should wear a life jacket just about anytime you are on the water like that whether you can swim or not. Its very easy to get knocked silly by the water and you have no way of keeping yourself out of the water without that jacket.

I'm not familiar with Indiana's laws, but I would think it'd be similar to Kentucky. Back in the mid 70's or so it was no longer legal to wear ski belts when skiing, tubing or sledding on the water. You had to have a life vest or life jacket on when engaging in those activities. I can't imagine being on a tube, skis or a wave runner without a jacket.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

I agree with you but I have done it several times in my misspent youth.(tubing in particular)

Sometimes there are some very real lurking risks that otherwise thoughtful people are simply blind to / never think about.

Growing up I've watched tubers fly off the tube and collide with one another. Easy for it to go down hill quickly.

It's a shame because it was preventable. I heard a story a few weeks back about a little girl sitting on the edge of her family's pontoon at Rough River. A wave catches her legs and pulls her under the boat and the prop cut one of her legs off.

No matter how it happened, The most important thing now is to pray for his family.
