So DA says he didn't know he was on a Louisville show.
Umm...beg pardon?
I was coming here to post that. What a joke! He may not be that smart but he's not that dumb either. He knew what he was doing. Like I said he was pandering to his audience. He should go into politics.
Im going to be honest with you all, DA may be a changed man now but not so long ago, Derek Anderson was known in Louisville as a gangsta with a big old click of supporters. Maybe he wasn't getting his own hands dirty, but he was calling shot.Call it what you want, but I know what I am talking about on this one.
Regardless, I have no problem with DA commenting his thoughts whether it be Louisville or Kentucky radio. Truth be told, he probably reserves much more of a right to speak out on issues like that than we do. He's earned the right to speak whether we all agree with it or not.
He's an idiot. He is a nobody now who can't get a coaching job.
Maybe he doesn't want a coaching job? So he's a nobody, huh? He won a Title here and played numerous seasons in the NBA. He's made more jack in his life so far than you ever will in your life. He had an injury plagued NBA career but still averaged a respectable 12 points for his career. He also has an NBA Championship ring from the Heat. He does good things in the community aimed at the Youth. But, you're right. He's a nobody. I find your comments quite offensive.

Even if true, I don't see how that has anything to do with this.

For the most part, don't we all change as we age? Did we ever run around with the wrong crowd at some point? Absolutely! I am just getting really tired of the DA bashing. Like someone said earlier, he didn't say anything that the majority of us fans haven't said while watching games. I was yelling at the TV all season long at Cals grinding mentality. I was yelling at the TV when I heard Cal say that getting 5 guys drafted was the best thing to ever happen to UK basketball. But let's all gang up on DA for giving a fans response. What a load of crap!
I am the furthest thing from a Jones fan but this is nonsense, IMO. He looks like the bad guy because of what he said, how he said it and and where he said it.
He looks like the bad guy because people get trigger happy and are ready to go after a guy at the drop of a hat. That...is nonsense.

No doubt, i am not happy with some of the decisions i made early on in my own life and yes we all can make changes like you say. Still,I like DA and Cal and believe that if there's some beef between the two, they are both men and can squash that out themselves. Even Cal and Rick are closer than some of us may think and worst case scenario, Cal and DA can have a sitdown with Rick being the middle man in between lol lol lol.
Like you, Cal's offensive flow sometimes gets on my last nerve but like i say, who you going to replace him with??
Damn if you do, damned if you don't the way I see it........
I heard some of Anderson's comments on Deener's show and then listened to them in its entirety in the link Matt provided. I don't have an issue with anything he said. I think he's spot on about kids in general coming out too early for the NBA. We can debate the semantics of whether or not Cal's "pushing" them out versus not encouraging them to stay for a degree. That the school (and many other top tier college programs, by the way) offers to pay for their schooling after their career ends or doesn't pan out makes their decision to leave easier.
I'm disappointed that DA apologized for his comments. There was nothing to apologize for. None of the UofL fan friends I have had a problem with his comments about Denny Crum, as they believe they were true, or pretty close to the mark.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

That was a major part of the debate.
I think everybody agrees that players are leaving too early. But Anderson claimed that they were being pushed out before they were ready--something that he can't know to be true.
If Anderson would have said they were leaving too early, that would've been one thing. But by saying they're being pushed he not only made a leap into an area he couldn't verify, he was also making a pointed criticism of Cal.
The overarching point about Cal's coaching is fair. I wouldn't have said any of it if I were Anderson because Cal has opened up a lot of doors for former players and I'd be worried about burning bridges, but I don't think Cal would care one way or the other about general complaints about his coaching. That stuff goes on with every coach in the business. (His point about pressing UCONN was just silly.)
But the idea that Cal is pushing them out--and the stuff about Dakari--was a little tough. And unnecessary.
