Derek is not transferring so we might as well throw that out and not even consider it. Dom is nowhere near going anywhere either. Where are they going to go? Why? Why sit a year? If they transfer now, it's because they think going somewhere is going to help them further their basketball careers once they're done in college. These guys aren't going to play pro ball. They're not going to leave UK for a chance at some minutes at mediocre basketball programs.

The only people who don't want that to happen and would rather have Willis play are Willis's family and JWORLD.

I think Cal will play no more than 8 guys next year. Ulis, Hawkins, Briscoe, Matthews, Mulder, Poythress, Lee, and Skal as of right now. If Diallo comes I think we play a bigger lineup and by default Poythress would take some of Mulder's minutes. If Murray comes as well then out goes Hawkins, IMO. Willis is no better than any of those guys. My confidence in him to contribute next year is either 1 or 2. Hawkins gets a 6 or 7 from me because he is a very good on ball defender. If we get Mulder, Murray, and Diallo we might be able to see a platoon again next year.

I have never seen anything from him, in game that indicates he should see the floor. He seems lost, tentative, and like he is on skates. I wish him the best.

I think those guys had some fight and competitiveness that Willis may not have. I can see Hawkins fitting in with that group, not Willis so far.

We really don't know about their prep, how smart/ coachable they are. We don't know how hard they work. It is his body language I don't care for.

Derek Willis was rated 115 his senior year by Rivals.

The thing about those types of guys is that they don't play much at any of the big-name schools. Not Duke, not Kansas, not North Carolina. The lowest rated guy Duke had that played this past year was Marshall Plumlee; he was 79th out of high school. He averaged 9 minutes a game.

So this is certainly not a conspiracy or a vendetta. These kinds of players--particularly if they're local--are recruited by these programs from time to time. But rarely do they play consistent minutes because at programs like ours, the coaches are out trying to get guys who are elite.

Derek Willis knew that when he signed at Kentucky.

Like I said, I bet 99.9% of the UK fanbase went out in the middle of the freeway and laid down when players like Brassow, Sparks, Padgett, Epps, Farmer, Pelphrey, Feldhaus, Woods, Cliff Hawkins, E. Daniels, C. Hayes, and a COMPLETE LIST of other UK players who have served Kentucky basketball well in the past.......

Now I am starting to understand why many other fanbases call UK fans a bunch of spoiled brats. It's quick to see all the negative comments about players like Hood, Willis, or Hawkins but rarely do I ever see a positive comment when these guys do something good.
