I mainly go to Twitter for breaking news/rumors concerning UK sports. The only people I follow are UK coaches and sports writers, such as Larry Vaught and Mark Story, who have their fingers on the pulse of UK sports.Oof, Twitter. That's where I've been hanging out for a decade or so, and I'm sick of it, and that's mostly why I'm back here where I feel like I belong (lol).
I don't mind putting out a bad take in here. The pushback it gets will be constructive. On Twitter, the pushback will be brutality. You'll get ratio'd. Big time. And you'll be called terrible names, as will your wife and kids and parents, and of course your looks will be mocked. I basically just learned to keep mouth shut, which gets boring. So, here I am. Get used to the bad takes, because I'm not stopping, no matter how much you yell at me.Philippians 4:11-4:13Comment

Yes, that part also..Sports talk shows and social media (and the popularization/mainstreaming of sports gambling which kinda goes hand in hand with those) have changed the way people enjoy sports, for the worse IMO. Nothing can just happen on the court/field now; it has to be a part of some larger narrative, and by God you'd better have an opinion on it and most importantly get that opinion out there immediately (and LOUDLY if at all possible, and it'd better be possible, or you should just shut the **** up instead, you casual)
If I can avoid that, and instead seek out reasoned discussion like one finds here, then it's all good ðŸ‘
I loved sports growing up, the beauty of the games and the sport itself but so much has changed.....Comment

About 6 months ago i lost my cool on some dude on a Facebook Kentucky group and called him a bad name ( I was wrong, im to old for that), then had a group of older ladies and gentleman telling me my parents raised such a bad person this and that because i said a bad word. I was quick to point out have you ever saw our coach on the sidelines drop the F bomb or the kids on our team say some bad things before lol lol... The hypocrisy of it all blows my mind sometimes. I did myself a favor and blocked them all, easier that way...Oof, Twitter. That's where I've been hanging out for a decade or so, and I'm sick of it, and that's mostly why I'm back here where I feel like I belong (lol).

Jody, I guess you know that oruacat2 passed.Yeah I remember some of those names. Pretty sure I read the board for about two years before I ever posted. Had maybe 10 posts on WCF, then started fresh on WCN as Littlemeyer. Felt like I knew all of those people without ever saying a word to them. Message boards are funny like that, especially ones that foster a community like has happened here and on those old precursors to here.
ukbob, windycatz, oruacat2, buddah....a few other names I remember off the top of my bald head.Comment

I have only done 1 message board...WCF and then when it went to WCN
Met some really nice people at my First SEC tournament in 2010Comment

WCF was great! I few times when I was working in Florida during the early 2000s, The WCF was my only way to get real time scores for UK bball.👍 1Comment

I think I joined WCF around 2000 or so. Met Mel, UKBob, Wildcat Rick and others at a home football tailgate not too many years later. Went to another group tailgate in Newport before a football opener at PBS in 2009. Met Lighthouse there. And that wonderfully nice lady whose name I can't recall who loved football, posted a lot back then and was an early Catwalk attendee. She loved Wesley Woodyard. I know Will through his late father from my time living and working in his old home place. I don't post much but I like keeping up here mainly because of the sanity of the commentary.👍 1Comment

That would've been Marsha who was the Wesley Woodyard fan. IIRC she had a picture of him as her avatar for quite some time.
Poodoo was long a staple of these boards when I first started posting. She caught something in Billy Gillispie long before hardly anybody else. I believe she didn't like him from the very start and she and I had some disagreements about it. Turns out she was exactly right.Comment
