When KSt was likec0-12 from 3 sure would have liked to see a 3-2 zone to try and shut down the driving the lane by that point guard.I ask people on here what will it take for somebody to hold Cal accountable for trashing our program. As a case in point next week we will watch Arkansas play in their 3rd straight sweet 16. We haven't gotten out of 1st round in 4 years. How is that allowed at UK. Will anyone that matters ever deal with this or do we ride the Titanic straight to the bottom.

I don't know why anyone would ever want to show Oscar the door. He's a once in a lifetime person, then player. We may never see another like him. I love him. Everyone should love him. I pity anyone that doesn't.

I took her to mean, by not scoring, they didn't show up, not that they didn't try.

We'll definitely never see anybody like him again. If that guy said he wanted to come back we should all be thrilled. I'm almost certain he won't, but I'd take him back in a heartbeat.

All that said, what the poster was saying above isn't entirely off base. Oscar messed us up on defense this year. He never understood defensive rotations, he wasn't a good talker, he seemed confused a lot, and his size and agility were an issue all season long. Kentucky absolutely needs more of a traditional shot-blocker in there to play like Cal wants to play defensively.

There's a silver lining to everything. We're going to lose so much heart and the most skilled rebounder any of us have ever seen at Kentucky. But we could add guys who will give us more of a traditional defensive look so teams won't be able to pick and roll us to death next season.

The "We are Kentucky" saying sure isn't what it used to be. And I long for it to return.

You cannot deny Oscar Heart and joy he brings. You can question his abilities on the defensive end (except rebounding). He was a lost ball in high weeds all year on Defense. He is also limited on offense against legit bigs. He did not grow this year in basketball ability or basketball IQ. That is one of the main reasons we failed as much as we did. He would do good for his pockets (NIL money) to return. If he is thinking of future earnings he would return. He will not be drafted or drafted late 2nd round (cannot play NBA ball). He could go pro overseas and do fine. But would not make near as much money as he could next year here. All that being stated, I think he is gone. I think Wallace is gone and Toppin is gone. Nothing I have heard (or do I know) but just a gut feeling. Reeves (not sure), Frederick (not sure), Wheeler GONE. Livingston should come back. Onyenso will be back it sounds like by statements to media. Ware (not sure), Thiero (i hope he is back) but not sure.

We will be about like we are this year no matter what. Unless Cal does some actual soul searching, decides to change is offensive philosophy. Coaches to the kids ability instead of telling them you will play X way because that is all I will teach you. Theiro, Livingston and Onyenso is a decent core if Reeves and Frederick come back then we add who Cal has signed, we will be decent but again it will not matter if we do not have a better offense and a big time jump in defense.

Eh, I dunno. I wouldn’t swear that I saw a lot of joy out of Oscar this season, if I’m being honest.

To be fair, not many of the bluebloods can say this right now.

The transfer portal and NIL has evened the playing field, and Kentucky is in a point of major transition. The folks in charge of the program need to do some soul searching this off-season or pack their bags.

True, college basketball overall is in a point of major transition. Imo, the games bordered on grueling to watch. Not referring to our loss.

I think COVID is part of this, obviously, but also so many players entering the portal has created a situation of flux. Not a whole lot of team-teams out there who've stuck together for a long time, which I think is why Houston is so powerful every year. They never seem to have anybody jump.*

                          * This will change this year with sure one-and-done Jarace Walker.
