I've got no problem with the UK coach being the highest paid in college basketball. When the multiple of that pay becomes so much more than the norm at other top programs, and the performance is so deficient compared to other top programs, I do have a problem. My comment about Cal needing to have made 4 final fours since 2015 was based on my major beef; he made 4 final fours in his first six seasons and he is being compensated at that level of performance now seven seasons later, with performance in those seven seasons way under the $$ paid. And then there is the ridiculously onerous buyout.

I think we should make his life as miserable as possible within the terms of his contract and try to get him to quit. Move his office into the basement. Steal his red swingline stapler. Make Ellen sit next to me at Rupp Arena.

Mitch Barnhart has done many wonderful things at UK, but his skills at contracts are a bit odd....if he DID make the Calipari contract. It seems odd that for some time he actually had someone between he and Calipari if I recall.

Cal's biggest asset was his ability to get the most talented kids....until he couldn't. Like any coach, he has had questionable games. Unfortunately they seem to be the season ending ones.

He DID manage to get a huge number of fans adoring lottery night, counting the new multimillionaires.

Trouble is, as final fours have disappeared and we watch players do a quick dive out.....that lottery night joy has been replaced with "huh?" And "so what?"

Two year players used to be unusual unless they were JUCO guys. Then we got the one and done guys. We have a kid now that's likely to be none and done, and how will that play if hes drafted top seven but never saw the court at UK?

Really a strange year that went from a world of expectation to just a mess in a short span.

Cal's problem is something he can do nothing about. .He is faced with a fan base that knows a lot about basketball and he doesn't get away with his Coach Speak like he used to. We are on to him and most can see coaching mistakes like having Brooks on the court at the end of the St Peter's game while Toppin was sitting. He has been hiding from Ky Fans ever since that loss. I've lost all confidence in him as our coach.

Agree 100%. The next 12 months of UKBB will be really interesting to see how both Cal and Mitch handle things.
