We’ll it means SOMETHING. Maybe a couple somethings.
1. We had a roster capable of winning a title in this year’s field and something/someone screwed their heads up so bad they fell miles and miles short of that goal.
2. I laughed and applauded when UNC hired Hubert. Now it’s already clear he can oversee progression of a team better than our guy.
Maybe even 3. Our guy may not be the only one who can sign the best class for years in a row and not win titles with them. This version of Duke didn’t go into the tourney as the overwhelming favorite like Zion’s team. But Banchero and Co. were the top class and along with veteran presence still fell short. Sure, anything can happen in the final 4. But Coach K at the end was not closing out like Coach K in the middle. Hopefully Duke will take a step back with his retirement.Comment

Assuming the NCAA finally gets around to dealing with Kansas re the Adidas violations, is it possible they would vacate a Kansas title? Seems like a player would have to be ruled ineligible. Given how long it's been is the still anyone on the team from back then?Last edited by Los Gatos; 04-03-2022, 10:04 AM.Comment

I have a feeling that some combination of the Sharpe situation and NIL caused team chemistry problems. We'll never know what went on behind the scenes but something caused the wheels to fall off the last 1/3 of the season.👍 1Comment

I can’t grasp giving a player money aka NIL if the sponsor knew he wasn’t going to play.👍 1Comment

I had wondered if the addition of Sharpe mid season caused a rift. I had that thought even before the wheels fell off, especially because Sharpe got that sneaker business deal.👍 1Comment

I agree.
But it has to be said that this past team we saw doesn't have many guys on it who were coming to college to play in the NBA.
This team was virtually made up of "college players." So blaming the whole one-and-done thing--or Cal's general mindset about one-and-dones--doesn't fit for this team.
Which, ironically, kinda makes things worse. Because if we can't blame it on the one-and-done culture it comes back to one thing: bad coaching.Comment
