Oscar is Now Approved for NIL

Big fat dose of good news: Oscar’s about to get that money. There’s a cautious, but growing feeling that eligibility for NIL could bring him back for another season, given that A. he said he “hopes Cal will keep him forever,” and B. he could make more in NIL at UK than he could as a second-round pick, which is as high as he’s projected.

    Very interesting.

Good for him. I don’t want to be selfish at all, but if it helps him, I’m glad to hear it.

Pure selfishness would be hoping for a return when his better option would be to leave. He can come back and improve his position over a second-round pick, AND make all of us happy.

Oscar returning would be wild. Have to think he'd strike while the iron is hot and see if he can latch on with an NBA team.

His stock will never be higher than it is now. A guy like that, with that build and skillset, isn't gonna be out there hitting corner threes. He is absolutely great at what he is but I don't think another year in college changes much for him.

            Changes his bank account.

I get the “stock will never be higher” argument if you’re talking about a first-rounder, but pick #45 or lower? That iron isn’t that hot. You’re getting into dime-a-dozen territory there. He could come back for another year, make more money than he would as a rookie next year, and still find himself in the same position a year later. He isn’t going to play himself out of that.

I've always thought there was a better-than-50-50 chance that Oscar comes back next year, and this news only makes me think that those chances increase.

Kyle Tucker is hitting the "Oscar might be coming back next year" thing pretty hard. Interesting.

Tucker also says that Oscar's mom will be coming to watch him play in the NCAA Tournament thanks to the NIL deal. It will be the first time she's seen him play.

I'm trying to think of last All American to come back and play for another season. Tim Duncan stayed his final year and was playingyer of the year his last season. Tyler Hansbrough, the one Tubby let get away, was another stud that is probably more resemblant of Oscar's talent as he willed himself yp get rebounds and outwork other players. Redick was another great player to stay.
I am hoping we see Oscar back in an era where its rare to see a great college player past his sophomore year.
