First Season I remember following was the `77 season and the `78 Championship.
I loved listening to the Joe B and Denny show in the mornings. Great stuff.Last edited by Lighthouse; 01-16-2022, 06:20 PM.Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

Coach Rupp was, indeed, quite the character. I don't mean to hijack this thread but, while we're talking about Rupp, I have a story to tell. I forget who we were playing, but UK had a guard by the name of Ronnie Lyons from, I believe, Mason Co. With time running out, here came the Cats. Ronnie pulls up to shoot and coach Rupp comes up off the bench shouting 'no Ronnie no, don't shoot, don't shoot'. Before he can get the last don't shoot completely out of his mouth, the ball swishes through the net. Right in mid sentence coach Rupp shouts 'good shot Ronnie, good shot.

My favorite Rupp story is the one Larry Conley told. At halftime of games the players would sit quietly as Rupp took a leak at the urinal reading the first half stats. He would then zip up comein front of the players and go on a tirade about whatever stat he saw that he didn’t like. They were playing Cincinnati and were beating them something like 32-4. A guy on Cincinnati wearing number 12 had hit the only baskets they had. Sitting waiting for Rupp tomappear, Pat Riley looked at Conley and grinned and said†let’s see that ole SOB complain about this half. Rupp came in and kicked a track can and said†Who is guarding number 12. “ Riley raised his hand, Rupp then said “ Well get on him he’s running wildâ€👍 2Comment
