One Stat Shows Kentucky is "Great"

Matt Norlander on how Kentucky's winning margin proves we're a dominant team. He says we haven't won games like this since the '90s.*

Crazzed must be so furious about this article.

    * I would point out that some of this is our weak schedule. But Kentucky has played some weak schedules in the past, so that doesn't account totally for the winning margin.

Usually--usually, not always--winning margin is a decent indicator of March success. However, you have to also show that you can beat good teams and Kentucky hasn't shown that yet.

We're certainly going to get a chance here in the next three weeks. Schedule gets gnarly real quick.

Tennessee, Texas A&M will be a tough road game , and at Auburn. CATS must take two of three and if they can beat Auburn on the road, it will be because Kentucky is good at times. As said on other threads, for Kentucky to become great they need to improve their defense and eliminate long scoreless possessions.

Auburn appears to be a contender for the NCAA championship. The Smith kid seems to be the real deal and is a matchup problem for every team. Things can change but love him or hate him, Pearl has assembled a good team this year.

            🤣

I know you’re right. The guy could find a way to complain even if we had an undefeated season followed by winning the national championship.

But doggone, I hope he sticks around to prove us wrong and actually says something unqualifiedly positive about this team. 😁

So that I don't sound like a downer...

I really like the TyTy, Minz, Grady, Tshiebwe, + Brooks/Toppin lineup. I can't stand Cal's stubborn, stupid three bigs that can't play offense -1000 lineups.

The Wheeler injury lineup should be the starting lineup with Wheeler off the bench (like all PGs that can't shoot and turn the ball over). That's our 7, use another big if O is in foul trouble. That's it. No clogged toilet offenses anymore, please.

EDIT to add: I miss good, bad, ugly reports...

There's no way Wheeler comes off the bench as long as he's third in the nation in assists.

And anyway, that really doesn't matter. TyTy, Wheeler...both give you something, both are a big net positive, both need to be on the floor most of the time. I don't see that as an issue with the team.

The team has some other issues that need to be ironed out to make them anywhere close to "great," but Sahvir Wheeler vs. TyTy ain't one.

I like having Mintz as the "spark off of the bench" guy. Ideally Grady continues to become more assertive, and I think that will really help Wheeler as well. Hope he's back for Tennessee but I doubt it will happen.

Been busy with my son's basketball. Also: lazy.

We have some big games ahead and I'll fire one out after one of these games. Crucial couple weeks for UK basketball.
