There's just no scenario where he comes in December and doesn't consider going pro in May. Mike Tyson said 'everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth' - well that applies here. Everyone has a plan until dollar signs start showing up.Comment

He and his circle were extremely turned off by how we prioritized Lively. He also is concerned with how he will be used. One of these days Cal is going to learn of the "bird in the hand" proverb.Comment

... and I don't fault him one iota for choosing another powerhouse after being slighted. A believer in the adage "A bird in the hand...." would have jumped for Bona if convinced he was ours, but not sure about Lively. It ain't over, 'till it's over, but looks like Cal's "grand strategy" is sputtering.Comment

100% this.
I was told yesterday that Cal and UK have moved on from Bona (or he moved on from them) and there is “no chance (in his opinion) that Bona comes to UKâ€
The big guy who committed to KU today over UCLA sealed it for me.Comment

If you’re Cal and you had a real shot at Lively, you had to take it. He and Bona could’ve coexisted and that was always the pitch. From everything I’ve heard, Bona had the green light to commit to UK months ago but chose to hold off. It seems a little whiny and disingenuous for Bona to play the “priority†card.👍 1Comment

If winning does mean anything to Bona, then he really can't lose no matter who he chooses. UCLA has a chance to be a very good team, so it's not like the lure of possibly playing for a championship weighs in on any part of this decision. And to be honest, if he's upset about the Lively situation, then good riddance, because in my eyes that is the kind of player that is not wanting to compete for time and wants to know he will be the go to player in that position.👍 1Comment
