That one surprised me too. But it gives a glimpse of what he may be capable of if he sticks around, works hard and gets comfortable

Nearly everybody seems to focus on Allen being a bad defensive player, which he is. But Boston is as bad or worse. Neither will get you points driving and must be set up shooters. Allen is the better shooter and would help this team more if he had Boston's minutes. And he just might be back next year.

As we've gone on I actually don't think Boston is worse than Allen. Allen has a really hard time because teams have scouted him now and they're just driving him relentlessly.

I don't think it's a huge deal though if he can hit shots. Problem is he started to rush his shots, and I'm sure it's difficult to play at a high level when you know you're going to be yanked out.

Boston tends to not be yanked out. But Askew and Sarr also don't get yanked out a lot, I've noticed.

This is the plight of end-of-the-bench players. They aren't the coach's darlings so their time to shine is very condensed. But aside from that, defensively Allen is very rough. Which makes sense given his lack of footspeed and the injury he is trying to come back from.

I'm still convinced that Allen can be a very solid college player. If we lose him it will be another indication that Cal has no idea how or inclination to keep role players, and experienced role players are absolutely essential to winning championships.

I agree 100%!! Not much difference in defense from top to bottom excluding Jackson. Play the guys that will score.

Bingo. If Boston was given the same treatment, he would be rushing shots too. It's a tough situation when you know if you miss you're back to the bench. It's no secret my feelings about Boston. I hope he moves on and when he does he will be one of the easiest players in UK history to forget.

Ashton Hagans wouldve made this team 15-8, as opposed to 8-15.
