Yes, but at this point I find myself leaning in the direction DVZ has described. I’d rather the truth unravel rather than have a markedly better record while still watching relatively poor excuse for basketball while still losing the whole roster on the yearly.

If we could return some guys, develop a core of experience and frankly identity with some experience, then Cal would not only have it way easier he also would have a chance to do his job...coaching and teaching. Unfortunately we bleed out players at three levels and bring them in only at two, so a missed target kills us. We missed on a few this year when you count in that the class was overrated...by a lot.

He’s allowed his throne to become a necessary evil now rather than an honor and privilege. The Kentucky offer meant something more from 2010 through 2015. It’s been bastardized since then.

Cal helped author a book “Bounce Back”. He needs to read it again.

I feel the same way, but whenever you say this you are inevitably met with 'a real fan doesn't root for their team to lose because they don't like the coach!'

I'm okay watching this team hit the bottom if needed to send a message to Cal.

I believe we’re at the bottom already but if they magically won the SEC Tournament and a couple guys played well, you might see three going to the NBA and three others transfer—which means we’d be in scramble mode again to fill out the roster for 2021-22. (There’s a chance we’ll see that anyway even if they keep tanking.)

The problem here has been put in place years ago. This particular team is just a byproduct. The metaphor I’ve been thinking about all season has been the snake eating its own tail. Cal created the very system that might undo him.

^ The W-L is what matters, as we learned all too well with Coach Smith. It was easy to argue that UK fans were crazy and that their gripes were unfounded...until the play on the court made it inarguable that we had slipped and were no longer elite.

If that’s what Calipari requires, then he’s gotten it in spades this year. He’s also managed to lose a lot of the fervor of the UK Fanbase. That might be insurmountable.

One of the frustrating things at this point is that the ceiling for “where we go from here” is far more out of our control than it is for other teams , even those who have had OAD players.

We find out what team needs are later, and more often, than the other guys.

              Yes sir.

The last two seasons of Tubby's era, the recruiting slipped and the winning slipped. We were no longer relevant.

At UK it's always going to be about Wins and Losses. Always. And earlier this season Cal, infamously, tried to say it wasn't.

Call me silly but to me that was Cal’s “game of life” comment, and we know how Tennessee fans felt about it when Butch Jones made that comment.

The wins and losses would adjust on their own if we had players stay.

Probably. These players might just be fundamentally poor and the types of guys who don’t have high ceilings. But I don’t think so. If he could keep this group intact I really think we’d see a sea change.

But chances of that happening: virtually nil.

Jackson is a guy who could be an absolute superstar if he knew how to play basketball. Would pay good money to see that guy stick with the program.

Totally agree, but he won't. He's going to be a top 25 pick and will be gone after this year. As will Boston. Clarke is the only toss-up I see but I still lean toward him leaving.

Expect Allen, Toppin and Askew to return.

                        Expect the rest to depart.

Building from the ground up, yet again.

Allen is one who I would think would be a transfer possibility.

You know opposing coaches have mentioned to his family how it’s a shame the fans at Kentucky had to shame the coach for him to play. And everybody in America can use a shooter so there will be numerous suitors, particularly in this free-for-all transfer environment we’re getting ready to see this off-season.

To me he just seems like the kind of player who would jump out.

I think the fact that he has always been a Kentucky fan combined with the success that he found when he finally cracked the lineup would be enough to keep him around.

                            But I've been wrong before.

We agree on the number, but only on one player. I see Toppin, Tshiebwe, and Ware as the only returners. I expect everyone else to enter the draft or transfer.

I have a very hard time seeing Allen stick around after getting crapped on by Cal the way he has. Askew said a long time ago that we don't have to worry about him going back to CA, but I'll believe it when I see it. It happens with every CA kid who isn't OAD.

If that's the case then Cal should call it a career. Next year's team would be significantly worse than this year's team. Unless Cal unexpectedly lands Sallis or Hardy or gets a major transfer, next year's incoming class is as weak as any entering UK. If he only gets Toppin and Ware to return....oh boy, next year will make this year look like fun.
