I think we have complete turnover yet again and he just can’t overcome that.
Clarke will go. Boston isn't staying after all this even if it's a more obvious choice than Montgomery's. Sarr's gone, Jackson's gone on "potential," Mintz is likely gone given his age. Hard to see Fletcher coming back. And Allen? Riiiiiiight. I'd tell Cal to stick it, if I were him. Askew and his family say all the right things, but who knows? Our track record with CA kids isn't good.

So that leaves Ware, Toppin, and some walk-ons, I guess? Am I forgetting anyone?

    Good times.

EDIT: I forgot Brooks. No idea what he’ll do.

And yeah, the comment that started this thread might keep Cal in the Boston family's good graces, but how many other relationships is he ruining at the same time? Is one kid, who probably isn't going to figure it out this season, really worth mortgaging the future of the program?

Do we need to wonder if the Boston's are holding something over Cal's head? (I'm joking. Mostly.)

^ Hard telling. That stuff is so complicated. Maybe the most mild possibly is recruiting image being napalmed if Boston isn’t a OAD. I hope it isn’t any more complicated than that....

I'll bet he never said that AFTER winning the SEC or NCAA! Sounds like a losers excuse.

Just my take. Cal is getting lazy. He can lose as much as he wants for two reasons. 1 his teams are always young. He hides behind this as an 'excuse. Even tho he encourages it. 2. What he does is for the benefit of the kids in the long run. How can you be so selfish as to pick your personal desire to win over a kids future.

I believe Cal has tried to make being about the players and winning two different things. That isn't how it works anywhere. Especially UK. I don't feel we threw caution to the wind with players before Cal and don't think we will ever start.

Makes you wonder how the other UK sports even exist.

No. I believe he said that within his first two years here and the high draft numbers of some of those players.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

Greatest night in program history was the 2010 draft. He promptly caught flack over that both from fans and from former players. Issel even commented on it.

Are you saying it's the greatest night or are you saying that like speaking for someone else?

That’s a quote from Cal, following his first season at UK.

I didn’t mind the comment when he made it because I assumed he was doing it to try and land great players going forward.

But it’s interesting that if you think about that quote, it does really cut directly to the problems in the program a decade after he said it, the main one being the NBA became the point and purpose of Kentucky basketball.

To be honest, that's what a lot of the fan base was clamoring for. Seemed logical...number one recruiting team should equal national titles.
few ever expected we would have kids that REALLY should have stayed taking the leap...and way too many.

Most fans even cheered Cal being very open that his 'mission'was to make these kids millionaires....long as it looked like we had a shot at the banner.

                              Now we are reconsidering.
                              Calipari isnt.

I Would be happy if kids could go straight to the d league and college basketball could just be it's own entity again. There is nothing like watching a kid grow and mature over time. I want the kids that want to be here not the ones that want to leave asap. They don't need Cal or UK. There are a lot of UK kids in the NBA but There are a lot more that didn't go to UK.
