It sounds as if he may be rejoining the team.

Cal seemed to be taking a few shots at Fletcher in the postgame press conference.

What was the point of that do you think Will. What purpose is served by taking shots at a kid who wasn’t even there today.

          Could be two things.

One, Fletcher is simply a bad kid who's given Cal a lot of grief. These situations do exist. See Carruth, Rashaad.

But it could also be that Calipari is simply frustrated over the losing and has found a proverbial whipping boy. That kind of stuff does happen too. Every team I ever played on had a guy that the coach just went after when things were bad.

^ I think it's probably the latter mixed with Fletcher having been a pain in the bottom in the short amount of time he's been here. Regardless, it represents a divergence from the staff's MO: keep matters of the program within the program. It was one of Cal's unspoken calling cards, and now he's broken his own rule. It's interesting, but it's hard to tell just yet what it means. Could just be frustration spilling over, Cal losing control, both...it's difficult to tell.

I don't know if Cal cares or not, but if he keeps railing on the kid Fletcher may just tell him to stick it.

The only player I can recall Cal doing this with was Darnell Dodson.

And Dodson reportedly had A LOT of off-the-court baggage.

A friend was in a class with Dodson and has a hilarious story about him. In short, they had a test and Dodson strolled in with about 15 minutes to go, stinking of weed. Prof said something to him and Dodson told him he was playing NCAA Football on PlayStation. His exact words were, “Sorry teach, I had to finish my dynasty.”

Good riddance, then. If a player is such a problem that the coach has to send him home indefinitely, I’m of the mind that player should stay home.

I know that railing on Dodson has become a popular thing to do, but he was actually a really fun player to watch when he was playing well. On a team with a lot of fun players to watch.

Wasn't much of a player. He had a few flashes during the season but wasn't nearly the shooter he was billed to be. Was 2-9 from three in that infamous West Virginia game.

He did however come into the Miami (Ohio) game when that team was absolutely beat and hit two or three threes in a row. That was the game that he'd been suspended for a half in and Cal played him, I think out of desperation. (Cal told Tom Leach before that game that he had to be talked back into throwing Dodson off the team.) I have maintained for a decade that if Cal would've kept the suspension in place with Dodson we would've lost.

Calipari announces that Cam'Ron Fletcher has returned to the team "with a smile on his face."

He also put on a mini show at the game at Freedom Hall that year. I remember being there and seeing it person and being kind of shocked.

Darnell Dodson would immediately be the leading scorer on this team.

Well yeah, but that's not saying much. So would Ryan Harrow and Skal Labissiere.

I know you're being facetious, but isn't Olivier Sarr essentially the exact same player as Skal Labissiere?
