We've had players grumbling and revolting for decades against the coach.

My high school coach was one of the toughest guys I've ever known. Tim Stephens. He had problems with Joe B. Hall and left the team mid-season. (I believe there were injury issues with him as well.) That was more than forty years ago.

That's just one example but there are countless others. I wouldn't try to pin Cam'Ron Fletcher's issues on a whole generation. We might just be dealing with one circumstance here.

          Ugh, this crap again.

1.) Who raised the 'snowflake generation?'

2.) Selfish athletes have been around as long as time. This isn't a new phenomenon at all, it's just grumpy old guys looking for someone to blame because things are different than they were in the old days.

Jeff Goodman has some thoughts on the Fletcher ordeal, calls Calipari out for a BS move and suggests he's done this because his team is 1-5.

Listened to KSR this morning where Matt Jones where Matt noted that even he didn't know anything about what's happening on the inside re: Fletcher.

My guess is that Fletcher either really went over the line or this had been building for a while now (or possibly both).

Like that Clown knows anything about what's really going on, he's just looking for twitter hits.

It's really hard to make any claims about the Fletcher thing because we don't know the full story. If the player had a full meltdown after the Carolina game and/or it's a recurring trend with his behavior, I guess I can get Cal calling him out. He's used Twitter as a way to send a message to players before, albeit not as severe as this one.

But if it comes back to simply Cal's frustration at being 1-5, then that's not cool.

We'll likely never know unless Fletcher and his family go to the media.

***Standing ovation** Bravo! He's been a waste of money for a long time, he got "hooked-up" with that position just because he played for Cal.

Goodman acts so surprised (I'm being sarcastic) like he has no idea about Fletcher-he tours the EYBL circuit and follows the HS kids, he knows what been said out there! But at the same time he did make a good point: Cal could've handled the situation better with his public statement to the media, What really surprises me is that Cal offered Cam a scholarship when usually he tries to bob-and-weave/avoid kids where he gets reports on regardless of their talent. How many times have we wanted "x" player, and Cal may not have recruited them heavily/consistently and then we hear about issues they are having with another team and then we say "Phew! glad we didn't get that one!" Do some slip in between the cracks and we have them on our team? Yes. but coach tries his best to read the tea-leaves early to avoid that situation. Or if that player ends up on the team but they produce enough, he'll put up with some of the B.S. and be protective of them when talking to the media (recent example- Hagan's "time off")...not what he did this time, that's saying something! We'll see how this pans out.

In my opinion the reason Cal made the statement about Fletcher is the meltdown or whatever it was, didn’t happen behind closed doors and was caught on camera. Therefore he had to address it or the speculation would have been unreal. Not the way Cal prefers to handle things nor do I agree with it.

What's odd though is that Fletcher had already apologized and yet Cal still addressed it.

I think there might be something going on with Fletcher's family stepping in that exacerbated the problems that were already there. But that's just speculation on my part.

Jumping back here on to say my piece on Cam. I said it here and other places when he committed (and got blasted for it), him and UK are not a fit at all. It made no sense to me (or anyone around STL) then and it makes less sense now.

He has some major attitude and immaturity issues. He was suspended multiple times from his high school team, including their district championship game.

He and his family have a hugely inflated view of who he is as a player and he’s been a problem nearly from the minute he came onto campus.

I was told today that this was a “major wake up” call for Cam and his mom. Cal outlined very clearly several things he wants Cam to do immediately and other things to commit to doing long-term. If Cam agrees and does them he is welcomed back at UK. If he doesn’t follow it 100% Cal has told him not to return.

maybe Cal shouldn’t have put it out there the way he did but I think his track record of backing and (at times) covering for his guys speaks to the level of issues at hand with Cam.

Cal has either been very good at managing huge egos or very lucky. We have had TONS of guys at UK ( under many different coaches) who wouldn’t or couldn’t get with the program. My goodness it seemed that Tubby ALWAYS had some problem children. Gerald Fitch breaking curfew with a UK cheerleader at SEC tourney. A brawl on the team plane that forced the pilot to land prematurely in Knoxville no less. Pitino, had his share, anybody remember Rod Rhodes, Joe B, Derrick Locke, Jay Shidler to name a couple, and don’t even get me started on Gillespie. Cal in 11 years has actually had very few. Unfortunately the model he is running with the 1 and D magnifies them.
